Virgil Peck - another of the elite's politicians blaming US woes on illegal immigrants!

Why not confront the true perpetrators of our problems with Mexico, i.e., the cartel run Mexican government and the corporate run US government?

Could it be because their election funds got you Mr Peck into office and your job is to protect them?

Could it be that your job is to keep dangling that enforcement carrot in front of the voting burros who actually 1)think you represent them and 2)believe that even shooting people would work?

When will the US taxpayers get so sick of this that they will stand up to you and your sponsors?

they do have a problem with wild feral hogs in that part of Kansas. They are dangerous and can and will kill livestock, people and rut up farmland. But I as a Kansan don't understand, with so many gun-toting hunters in this state, just don't issue hunting licenses for these pigs, open a hunting season for them and let people who know how to hunt take care of the issue. Case closed. Now that didn't seem to hard. There was $170,000 appropriated to a committee on "how to handle the feral pig probelm in SE Kansas". Doesn't seem tough to me. And that A&&hat makes a statement like that which I'm sure he completely stands behind. I personally cannot stand my elected officials but have to put up with them.

I was going to make an apt historical comparison, but I think I'll just preemptively call Godwin's Law on myself before someone else does.

"Godwin's Law" provides people like Virgil Peck and his fans on H_P with good cover.

I've lived in the Midwest for many years. It's most common to hear these god-fearing pro-lifers say the most incredibly hateful things because they feel that they are special and god is on their side. I am so tired of hearing "I'm a Christian" from those who hate and impose their beliefs on others. They slap each other on the back and laugh at their mean spirited remarks while smugly KNOWING they are the only ones that matter. Yep, it's a Good Life as long as you feel the same way and ain't one of those dang "progressives". It's sickening.

This frightens us - it frightens us that "leaders" in our communities have such little regard for real American values. Peck is not fit to serve.

These people are simply unbelievable. Republicans have to be the most awful people in the world. And when questioned about it, Virgil Peck(erwood) had the gall to say it was a "joke" and when that didn't fly, to claim he was just speaking like a Southeast Kansas person. Please don't let him off the hook, people. Let his office, and the State of Kansas, know exactly how you feel about this objectionable comment and this objectionable little man who made it. Gah!
10:48 PM on 03/15/2011
Yes, I found that remark of his interesting re "speaking like a Southeast Kansas person" - what does that mean for those from that area? Are Southeasterners that much more "bellicose" than the rest of Kansas? Being on the "southern border" of Kansas, do they get tons of illegal immigrants "flooding across" from the "wilds" of Oklahoma? LOL

Additionally:
"Appropriations Chairman Marc Rhoades, R-Newton, said Peck’s comment was inappropriate.
Rhoades said he thought Peck was joking, ...”
"Asked about his comment, Peck was unapologetic."

So, compounding Peck's comment is the fact that he was apparently "unapologetic" about it, and appropriations chairman Rhoades couldn't muster any more outrage than to say, "Hopefully he won’t do it again." Really, that's the best he could do?

There is a singular lack of understanding on the part of these politicians that their comments demonstrate a complete lack of any kind of morality.

No, I'm afraid not. Although Virgil Peck claims it was. Nothing funny about it, though. Nothing at all. Just despicable.
10:51 PM on 03/15/2011
Actually, if you look at the linked article at the Lawrence Journal World it was Chairman Rhoades who spoke:
"Appropriations Chairman Marc Rhoades, R-Newton, said Peck’s comment was inappropriate."
"Rhoades said he thought Peck was joking, but added, “Hopefully he won’t do it again.”
"Asked about his comment, Peck was unapologetic. “I was just speaking like a southeast Kansas person,” he said."

Apparently it was Rhoades and NOT Peck who made the comment, Peck was still standing by what he said!

Too bad it's only a joke. It would be a solution to a monumental problem that this chicken sh!# govt. refuses to deal with.

There is nothing remotely funny about shooting human beings from helicopters. Nothing at all. Why is it that Republicans' idea of "jokes" always seems to involve pain and suffering to some group of people, usually the poor and the powerless? I don't see them making "jokes" of that sort about the rich and the powerful.

Why is it that a person that can plainly see something as a joke get's branded a republican? People need to lighten up and move on.

. . . As a reminder . . . yesterday, all the righties were outraged over the metaphor "Deadman Walker", and yet here they are today . . . defending the Kansas lawmaker's comments.

Threatening the life an American is hardly the same as making a joke about killing illegals, now is it?

You do understand that there is no threat implied in calling him "Deadman Walker," don't you? You know, a reference to a movie title where the condemned is being led to his execution, so he's already dead, so to speak. And Walker is pretty much dead politically here in our fair state of WI. Wait a minute, I just tried to explain this to someone who actually finds Peck's words to be joke worthy. Never mind.
