Huffington Post   First Posted: 03/16/11 01:33 AM ET Updated: 01/06/12 05:03 PM ET

Huffington Post spoke with Tokyo Resident, blogger, and reporter Matt Alt for the Huffington Post Japan Crisis Live blog (Click for breaking news) on the current nuclear situation in Japan as it is unfolding. *WATCH THE VIDEO BELOW*

Alt also details the strength and determination of the Japanese people currently enduring this hardship.

Alt mentions two good current Twitter resources to follow are @1rick and @TimeOutTokyo, and that the Twitter response time to the events as they are unfolding is "unprecedented" in a disaster situation.

Watch the video for more information on up-to-the-second updates that could help if you're stuck in the country.

I live in Tokyo, too. There aren't any problems here, at all.

This guy isn't saying anything new. Plus he's in Tokyo, he doesn't know anything about what's going up north. He's not right about panicking though. People are panic buying everywhere.

Up north? You mean the areas they've evacuated? You mean the area where several correspondents and photographers have been killed or gone missing?

To his credit, if you've been following his Twitter feed you'll see he's going to great lengths at getting accurate information out there to people. He's face, someone we can relate to who is going through this. As for panic buying, I think he was referring to the orderly fashion to which people are going to at getting supplies.

Yes, I mean up north. How would he know anything more about the situation than someone who has been watching NHK all day? He isn't an expert.

I understand your point about "face" or whatever, but still, his word isn't any better than mine as I'm living in Tokyo as well.

Also, there is nothing orderly about buying up all the bread, rice and other staples when you aren't even being threatened with nuclear fallout, tsunami, etc. It's this foolish panic that will make it harder for people in Tokyo and most importantly Tohoku.
