University Of Chicago Student Launches Casual Sex Website, UChicago Hookups

As "The Social Network" demonstrated, hormones and college stress can lead to a multi-billion dollar empire. Now, a student at the University of Chicago is trying to make his mark--by starting a sex-driven social networking site.

A U of C undergraduate student who has not released his name publicly launched UChicagoHookups.com to allow "UChicago students - and only UChicago students - to find casual encounters and campus entertainment events," according to the site.

"I'm sure many students have heard of the stereotype that we don't have any fun, that this is where fun comes to die, that the guys are desperate," the creator and site programmer told The Maroon student newspaper . "I'm not going to disclose anything too specific . . . but I can say that we've already had users who have had success."

The site says "Chastity is curable if detected early" and features a Victor Lownes quote: "A promiscuous person is a person who is getting more sex than you are."

CBS Chicago reports that more than 200 people have already signed up for the service, looking for a "no strings attached" sexual experience.

"This is a necessary step to allow people to feel free to hook up on their own time and unwind," Jon Clindaniel, a junior archaeology major, told CBS.

The site is similar to the "Casual Encounters" section of Craigslist, but allows students to scan fellow students--rather than random people on the internet.

"We're trying to change the ages-old stereotype that UChicago students are severely sexually deprived," the site's creator writes on the site.

School officials have yet to comment on the new social networking page.

The issue I've seen with most U of C undergrads is a total lack of apparent personality and social skill. Not that I'm Mr. Party but damn! Something like this will do them no favors! Take the el, bus, cab, limo, private jet, heli, whatever you can up north to civilization, out of Hyde Park, and mingle!

That may sound harsh, but I know the pressure college can put on you to succeed academically. But just as important is the ability to socialize, which is enormously underrated it seems.

Really? There aren't enough free websites out there now? For someone that just wants casual, no obligational sex? Oh wait, I forgot to throw in "No cost" as well. Because isn't that what this is all about? Yeah we all know that in general, guys like sex with no attachments more than women.
But most women who don't want an attachment, usually have a very good emotional reason for it. Like being sexually assaulted/abused. And it's not just my opinion, it's based on genetics and societal norms.
Todays media (The Jersey Shore, etc) has convinced women that having casual sex is the way to "get" a man these days. It hasn't worked in the past, can't see it working today either.

This guy watched Social Network a 100 times and is trying to use the same development template as mark zuckerberg. So, they put together this shiddy looking website hoping that other college campuses will follow suit (a la FACEBOOK?) and they will become multimillionaires(a la FACEBOOK?)!
this is contrived so it will never see the same success of facebook whose rise to fame was of a serendipitous nature.

These are some of the T-shirt slogans popular when i was a student there. It's a terrific place to learn, but it's meant to be something of an ordeal. It has never been a Party School.

Funny. But really I think University of Manitoba has got to top you in two of three categories. Except for the Women. They were lovely and lovely to me.

In the middle of winter when you look out the window at the endless tundra. That's when you think you could be over paying for things you should have learned in high school somewhere where there is no such a thing as Winter.
