Slashfood:

Thanks to a new law, clearly posted calorie counts will soon tell you exactly how much weight that burger will add to your hips. But you'll also be faced with some eye-popping news at your local movie theater concession stand. The new law, which goes into effect March 23, mandates that all chain restaurants with at least 20 U.S. locations must display the calorie counts of their menu items -- but it also includes concession stands at grocery stores and movie theaters.

Post it. I won't care. I go to the movies 3-4 times a year only. I take my butter drenched popcorn with an extra side of salt and extra butter each time. The movie doesn't play otherwise. And I wouldn't want to ruin everyone's theater experience by me sitting there without my popcorn.

Post it, it won't scare me off! It's a very rare treat for my wife and I, the last movie we saw in the theatre was Men In Black 2!

Quite honestly, it's the price of the food that scares me, not the calorie count.

Most people don't know how many calories are in popcorn-- carbs are very high in calories. There is nothing wrong with providing information to the public. We can do with that information as we will.

Nannyism! I've only been to a theater twice in the last 2 years. And I didn't even order popcorn once! As rare as my visits have been, I could have downed the biggest most buttery pop corn I could get and not busted my normal diet. McD's Fries used to be fried in lard, and my ventricles are still working. They're still throwing that blood out to the Aorta/Lungs- The largest artery in the body-The Aorta. One pumps straight out the the Aorta,(Systemic) the other to the Lungs/Pulmonary
(A little anatomy lesson) I'm at normal weight but still.........

No one cares what you eat. The law is simply to make information available to those who wish to know. Knowing that a large soda is over 1000 calories might encourage someone to go for a smaller size, or a diet soda. Nannyism is forcing people to make the choice that the person in charge insists on. Providing information and education isn't nannyism. It is being responsible.

You do not have to get that grease put on your popcorn. You can request it plain. They may look at you funny, but you are the one eating it.
