Lawrence O'Donnell Says He's 'Driving Glenn Beck Crazy' (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/19/11 01:56 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:40 PM ET

Lawrence O'Donnell said that his recent criticisms of Glenn Beck are "driving [him] crazy."

O'Donnell and Beck have been engaged in something of a war of words lately. On Thursday, O'Donnell played clips of Beck talking about the Book of Revelation, saying that it was written so "you would know...in these days, these things will happen." Beck was discussing the crisis in Japan. Referring to the catastrophe there, he said, "I don't know if it's these days."

This had seemed a tad doom-and-gloom for O'Donnell, and he mocked Beck for the comments. On Friday, Beck responded on his radio show. He played a clip of O'Donnell's Thursday show.

"Gosh, he's bad," Beck said, saying that he agreed that the world was not coming to an end. "That's not what the Book of Revelation talks about," he said.

O'Donnell took great pleasure in Beck's "agreement" with him, and played the clip three times.

"And there you have television history," O'Donnell said. "It came in an area where Beck feels safest: his religious beliefs." He said that Beck was falsely portraying himself as a Biblical literalist.

"The Bible, in its entirety...is not believed by any sane person," O'Donnell said, going on to dissect parts of the book that he said Beck must not believe, and thus implying that Beck was not being serious in his discussion of the Book of Revelation.

Jeez, if Beck, Hannity, Rush and the rest ever actually did go away, the Huff Post and MSNBC would have no material.

Looks like it's time to resurrect the old "Dear Dr. Laura" letter from a few years back, the one that requests assistance in complying with some of the less popular bibical pronouncements, such as the rules surrounding the selling of daughters into slavery, or the proper way to smite a neighbor who wears cotton/poly blends.

If you believe the bible is to be believed literally (e.g., homosexuality is an "abomination") then you are obliged to comply with all sanctions equally. No picking and choosing allowed as that would be heresy.

Good grief! O'Donnell is PROUD of this..."achievement?"

Seriously, did MSNBC hire a seasoned commentator or another one of Beck's paparrazzi? O'Donnell's constant leeching only highlights the fact that he ISN'T the one leading the discussion.

If I'm an MSNBC exec paying his undoubtedly substantial salary, I'm wondering why this situation isn't reversed and am having serious second thoughts as to O'Donnell's long-term ability to remain relevant.

I find it truly amazing how little critics of Christianity actually know about Christians. Lawrence O'Dummy spent a great deal of time talking about how the Bible "contradicts" itself on the issue of working during the Sabbath and how modern-day followers of the Bible select passages that they want to believe in. He's only partially correct. The Old Testament does prescribe harsh punishments for those who work during the Sabbath. However Christians are FOLLOWERS OF CHRIST AND NOT FOLLOWERS OF THE MOSAIC LAWS found in the Old Testament. According to Christ's teachings you can work during the Sabbath:

Isn't Beck Mormon? Don't Mormons believe the Bible is not the whole of the word of God?

According to this site http://www.dearelder.com/index/inc_name/Mormon/title2/What_Do_Mormons_Believe
"The Bible as it presently exists is a construction of the councils of men and has undergone countless transcriptions and several translations. Mormons believe that in the intervening 2,000 years the essential gospel remained but several finer points of doctrine have been altered or omitted on occasion and interpreted to suit the desires of those in power."... so, if Beck is Mormon, he doesn't fully believe the Christian bible is correct in the first place.

With all due respect to O'Donnell, but isn't Beck already playing with his own poop to be any crazier?

"The Bible, in its entirety...is not believed by any sane person," O'Donnell said

I already really disliked Odonnell for his Socialist views, and now that I know he is anti-Christian, I have no further use for him.
I suppose Larry would like us to worship him, he is the smartest man he knows.

that being said, Beck is the consumate charlatan.

That's a HUGE jump from saying the bible "is not believed by any sane person" as being literally true to saying he is anti-Christian.

There's nothing "anti-Christian" about saying that it's not reasonable to believe every word of the Bible literally. Most people who possess two brain cells to rub together know that the Bible is a compilation of parables and metaphors. Some self-described Christians -- such as Beck, and perhaps even you -- make themselves easy to des pise.

Most Americans have never heard of Lawrence until he started on GB, what does that tell you? I mean, look at the ratings. Heres some REAL news you DEFINATLEY find here. Ratings do not equal truths.
I for instance listen to all three major corporate news channels and do my own research.
therefor draw my own conclusion. It is trully sad that the news i bellieve the most is foreign and when it isn't comes from a comedy channel....no not fox comedy central! colbert /stewart.

Taxes are only for conservatives. The more they make, the more they should pay. Leftists have the moral high-ground, so they are exempt from the rules that are suppose to govern our society.

Just ask Michael Moore why he wants to spread the 'evi'l rich folks money around while maintaining a very healthy balance...
