Spotlight: Rebecca Campbell's Romancing the Apocalypse at LA Louver

03/20/2011 01:41 am ET | Updated May 25, 2011

WHO: Rebecca Campbell
WHAT: "Romancing the Apocalypse"
WHEN: March 10 - April 16, 2010
Opening reception: Thursday, March 10, 6-8pm
WHERE: L.A. Louver
45 N Venice Blvd
Venice, CA 90291
WHY: Rebecca Campbell is well-versed in the dialectic. A co-creator of Huffington Post Arts' '7 Rings: An Artists' Game of Telephone,' in which painters and poets switch off responding to each other's creations, Campbell oversaw the stepwise evolution of an artistic argument. In her own work, something of the same spirit survives; whether with mushroom clouds that resemble flowers or young girls whose skin radiates shadow, Campbell's paintings refuse to portray subjects from ordinary perspectives.
