The site also offers editorial features like "Model of the Day," which focuses on one of the plus models that are becoming household names, and "Street Style," which looks at the style of chic women on the street, a first for the plus customer. "We're not used to being on display," Cheshire admitted, but the response has been overwhelmingly positive.

Not clear on this...is this for fat women too...or just "curvy" women? Many fat women are not curvy at all.

If so, that doesn't seem fair. They should make it for all women.

Will they continue to produce clothes in all synthetic fabrics something I have always found ridiculous, ugly and uncomfortable. And will they continue to cut the sleeves proportionally, so that they hang way below your finger tips. We all know that when adult woman gain weight their arms also grow longer!

I've found very few designers who know how to design flattering plus size clothing.

My oldest sister is obese, however, she does not act like she is obese. She wears stylish clothes, she carries herself as if she weighed 110 pounds, and she is very attractive. Beauty is as beauty does.

"Obesity is a medical condition in which excess body fat has accumulated to the extent that it may have an adverse effect on health, leading to reduced life expectancy and/or increased health problems."

I write that definition because "obese" is a medical term with negative connotations. I sincerely hope you don't call her obese to her face. Better, more PC, and similarly accurate descriptions include: plus size, "larger", even "heavy set". Being heavy in this country and this thin-obsessed culture is hard enough without our loved ones buying into the negative stereo types. I hope you offer her an apology and maybe one to the others you have offend with your choice of words, such as myself.

Lastly, if she is stylish and carries herself as a "normal" "thin" (read: good person) person she has won half the battle and I congratulate her for her hard won self esteem. You, not so much.

Btw? How should obese people act?

...come off your front foot for a "change"...

...it is what it is...by being in denial using shallow terms doesn't get around the fact that obesity is NOT healthy and should be viewed as a serious problem. Not something you throw lipstick on to feel better about yourself....not only did you sensitively read way too deep into that statement but your manifesto on how "society" should accept that level of poor discipline and health care nightmare is disingenuous....
There is a big difference between obese and plus sized...
The reason why this country is "thin obsessed" is because it's the f@ttest on the planet...go figure

I'm with you... I agree that beauty is as beauty does... but I really hate that you wrote ''she doesn't act like she is obese''. How does an obese person act?

I never meant to offend anyone. I have extra pounds on me, and I try to cover it up, she doesn't. I admire that in her. She hasn't let it wreck her self esteem, that's what I was referring to when I said, "she doesn't act like she is obese". She is confident, not shy.
