............I support this congress. We are $14 trillion in debt, paying $4 billion a day in interest. Our dollar has devalued to a new low. Now is the time to bite the bullet. Seniors in this country have seen this country going to hell and remeber what this country was like before congress' 25 trade deals that sent jobs and taxes out of the country and dumped cheap goods into the US. Foreigners own our children and grandchilren. I fully support Boehner, Ryan and Cantor and I have written them of my support.

Republicans fillabustered almost every suggestion that President Obama and the Democrats had when they were in the minority. Now, in the majority they are runnignthe government on a week to week basis. No compromis, only silly, fruitless talk. They are a group of "do nothings". These "new, Republicans" are erratic, stubborn, and greedy.

October 1 marks the beginning of the federal fiscal year. October 1, 2010, a congress with a majority of Democrats in both house and a Democratic president could easily have passed a budget without Republican votes. They have had six and a half months to do so and should be working on the 2012 budget due October 1, 2011. They didn't because if they won the November election they could have continued with their spending spree. The American people spoke with their vote last November, cut the pork. Shut down duplicious agencies.

The GOP, actually working to actually improve an economy?
With deregulation, and more "free market", gov't yard sale privatization schemes?
Are you kidding?

Do the tea potty people really think that these Republicants will stand up for them after they lose their job and are in danger of losing their homes?

Good luck with that.

- A last-minute spending extension
passed by Congress has alleviated fears of service members whose pay would
have been affected April 1.

A government shutdown would've frozen military pay had Congress not passed a
temporary funding bill on March 14.

The last government shutdown occurred in 1995. Service members received pay
and reported to work. However this time, the 13-page contingency plan
provided by the Department of Defense stated the military would miss a pay
day if a shutdown occurred and are required to report to their place of
duty.

"All military personnel will continue in normal duty status regardless of
their affiliation with exempt or non-exempt activities," says the draft
planning guidance prepared for the services and defense agencies. "Military
personnel will serve without pay until such time as Congress makes
appropriated funds available to compensate them for this period of service."

The extension is in effect until April 8, at which point Congress will
either extend the bill or approve a new budget. However, an unsure future in
military pay looms if neither options come to fruition.

Can't imagine why?

These bagger promised JOBS JOBS JOBS and all they seem to be interested in is women's reproductive rights.
10:40 AM on 04/08/2011
.$14 trillion in debt, $4 billion a day in interest on that debt. Cut the pork. As for women who can't control their reproductive health its not the responsibility of those who go to work sitting in traffic for hours at a time. Let these women contact their families, relatives and friends. How did their grandmothers do it. You would think with condoms and the pill women would have it easy these days instead doing what they please and asking someone else to pay for their actions is the norm.

When the American people voted for "change" last election, they did not think that the Republicans would make things worse, they just naturally assumed................

Yes, and they need to be sustainable living wage jobs.
09:17 AM on 03/22/2011
It's obvious the Repubs are disrupting. They are no longer talking about jobs, they want unemployment to remain high. They would rather deal with NPR, Abortion, and Gay marriage, while millions of us are unemployed.

The Republicans in the House passed a budget. That is more than the Democrats in the Senate have done.

While the House is waiting on the Senate to respond the House deals with some of the other issues you list. Meanwhile the Senate deals with.... deals with... well they deal with something.... I think.

Sorry but I am of little faith on that one. We are talking about people who worship the constitution but yet warps it's meaning to suit their own purposes. They think they are their own party yet they are funded and lead by republicans. Same ol same ol and republican never change.
10:43 AM on 04/08/2011
......on the contrary..............I will join them and fight to get rid of the rest of those people i;n congress who forgot who sent them to represent them. they should have had a budget last October. Three million jobs left because high taxes, union wages, retirement plans, health care, state, local and federal taxes, holiday pay, sick and vacation leave sent them to low expense countries. When you lower the taxes and increase tariffs they will come back.
09:13 AM on 03/22/2011

Grid lock prevails because each side wants to show the other its power. Once these elected servants of the people finally realize that they are the servants of the people and not the rich and powerful, our government may finally solve the problems we have. I'm not going to hold my breath on that one.

When Obama was sworn in our national debt was $10.2 trillion and by the time the 2012 election arrives we will be over $16 trillion into debt! --This one term president will be responsible for a whopping 60% increase! --Over 700 Democrats were thrown out of office nationwide in the last election because Americans are screaming for our politicians to stop spending money we do not have. The interest we are paying on our debt will EXCEED what we spend on our military by next year! CUT the spending and CUT the size of government!

Funny things happen when you take two wars that were not considered in the budget and put them there. The previous administration run up most of that debt, including paying for two wars off the books.

If you are truly concerned about the debt and spending, you should be upset about Senate Republicans holding the budget hostage until tax cuts were extended. You should be outraged that Republicans are spending so much time talking about NPR and Planned Parenthood. You should be foaming at the mouth mad that a member of the GOP is proposing penalizing private insurance plans, with tax increases, that cover abortions. The IRS has already said if that bill passes, it would be forced to inspect health insurance plans of private businesses.

You say cut spending and the size of governement, scream at the people YOU voted in! They played you for a fool, and are busy doing what they wanted to do all along- get back power.

After the 2012 election is over you guys will still be whinning about Bush. Why do you libs keep talking about wars "off the books"? The national debt can not be hidden "off the books" as the money had to be borrowed. You might be able to hide some numbers from the Defense budget but you can't hide what Treasury is having to borrow to keep the government running.

how much of that deficit was from the bush white house?
when you sign laws and spending measures for future years...not all of the programs are paid for right away.
if a program is set up for 10 years...it's not going to be fully funded in the first year.

healthcare reform, passed
consumer protection, passed
wall st. reform, passed
DODT, repealed
those affected millions of people.

repeal healthcare, stalled, won't pass
anti-abortion bill, stalled, won't pass
another anti-abortion bill, stalled, won't pass
yet another anti-abortion bill, stalled won't pass
defunding NPR and PBS, stalled, won't pass.

that's the difference. they're not blaming republicans for our problems-- they're saying you haven't fixed the ones you said you would. that's what's going on. they haven't even tried.
