Mitch Daniels Targeted By Democrats In Indiana (VIDEO)

Mitch Daniels Collective Bargaining

Seeking to draw Governor Mitch Daniels further into contentious debate over collective bargaining rights in Indiana, Democrats are out with a new ad going after the potential presidential contender.

Talking Points Memo obtained an advanced copy of the thirty-second spot released by the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee on Monday.

"Mitch Daniels and his friends have big plans or hard-working Hoosier families, but it's not more jobs or better wages," says a narrator in the television ad. "Instead, Governor Daniels and the Republicans in Indianapolis want to kill collective bargaining, slash wages for workers and decimate public schools by sending our tax dollars to private schools. But Democrats are standing up to Daniels' anti-middle class agenda and standing up for us. Tell Governor Daniels stop hurting middle class families."

In recent weeks, union workers in Indiana have held protests against several education and labor bills, including legislation that would restrict collective bargaining rights for teachers. According to the Associated Press, at one recent demonstration workers chanted, "Hey! Hey! Ho! Ho! Mitch Daniels has got to go!"

The Hill notes that Daniels acknowledged earlier this month that the dispute could ultimately affect any ambitions he may have to run for president in the next election cycle.

"We're all about the business of Indiana and trying to move an agenda forward right now," he said to the Associated Press. "That could well get in the way of any national participation. If it does, it does."

Posted this on a Daniel's thread about 2-3 days ago.

In that article, Daniel's was quoted as saying, "We're planning some very exciting things in Indiana to make our state better,"

Exciting is a euphemism for divisive.  Right now in Indiana there's a push to change gay marriage from already being against the law to making it against the state constitution.   Read More...

Daniels doesn't have a chance. He's too effeminate, like Huntsman. We'd never nominate him. He doesn't exude bravado like Romney, Christie, Bush, Cheney, Palin, Bachmann, Wilson etc. I think people are about done with "intellectual & pragmatic" presidents.

Collective bargaining is the last line of defense against America becoming a corporate dictatorship,, not that it has that far to go,, and I'd like someone to find out how many unions endorsed republican candidates,,, and some kind of number as to how much of the many memberships vote conservative..

It's all about scaring unions and warning them to accept less to lower the standard of living for everyone..
If the American ppl don't fight back now America will lose what's left of the middle class...

There was a time long ago when ppl had the power to dictate to industry instead of always being a victim of it,,,,,,,like we're some third world nation.... Stand up America!

Indiana finished the last fiscal year in the black, thanks to Mitch Daniels.

While states like IL and California, both liberal-run, are financial basket cases.

Taxpayers are fed up with high cost government and big spending liberal states.

If and when Mitch Daniels announces a run for President, anyone who is remotely interested in supporting him should visit Indiana first. If you drive you'll likely enter the state on an interstate highway Daniels sold to foreign investors. If you come to rust belt towns like South Bend , Elkhart or Fort Wayne you'll see potholes, polluted rivers, toxic waste sites where factories once stood, segregated communities with high unemployment especially for minorities and low wages for wide swathes of the working community, public schools that desperately need help, and every indication of low expectations. This state is a hotbed of anti-health care reform sentiment from people whose health care is at present lousy but who are willing to follow the far right's propaganda if it kills them, literally.

Daniels isn't responsible for the collapse of industry after the 1950's and the pollution and empty buildings after the 1050's but he sure can't claim to have done anything to improve the situation. His tax plans killed local education and government.

We all wait and watch to see if he will preserve one of Indiana's bright spots, the University at Bloomington.

Take a look at Daniels' and what he's done or not done for the "looser" state before you decide to support him for president.

Daniels entire focus in Indiana has been a path to Washington. Nothing was done for the people in this state, everything was done to look good on paper, for his future benefit. Yes, he is a numbers cruncher, so put him back in an accounting office where he can do some real good. He is not a people person, and it shows in Indiana, where he has made many enemies.

Neocon-America

The common theme of the republican neo-conservative agenda being legislated across the country is clear. The American dream is dead. Killed by global economic forces beyond anyones control. Better face the music, suck it up and get used to the pain. In the name of fairness and sharing the pain any outliers like unionized public employees who still believe that they can enjoy the middle class "Life of Reilly" better get a new life.

Except for Job Creators. The Creators do not have to share the pain. While the rest of us sacrifice KC gets a tax cut. If we try to make them share the pain they will just move to another town, or state or country and take their creation skills and our jobs with them. Or if we really piss them off JC can bring our economy to its knees in a heartbeat. This is fair they tell us because in America anyone can become a Job Creator.

This is Neocon-America and its being brought to you by the Job Creators and they are putting their money behind it.

back in the day when republicans had leaders not corporate politicians who are on the take

"Only a fool would try to deprive working men and working women of their right to join the union of their choice."
Dwight D. Eisenhower

"Labor is prior to, and independent of, capital. Capital is only the fruit of labor,
and could never have existed if Labor had not first existed.
Labor is superior to capital, and deserves much the higher consideration."
Abraham Lincoln

"With all their faults, trade unions have done more for humanity than any other organization of men that ever existed.
They have done more for decency, for honesty, for education, for the betterment of the race,
for the developing of character in men, than any other association of men."
Clarence Darrow

“"Those who would destroy or further limit the rights of organized labor -- those who would cripple collective bargaining or prevent organization of the unorganized -- do a disservice to the cause of democracy." J. F Kennedy

The dems have to keep the pressure on with this issue. Without the pressure, the unions issue (collective bargaining) will fade into the background and be forgotten. People have extremely short memory.

One hundred years ago this Friday the factory fire that helped launch the labor movement in this country occured. The fire that killed 143 women and children raced through 3 stories in just under 18 minutes. The republicans want to go back to that time when collective bargaining was non-existant. The teaparty wants to go back to a time when fire traps were a norm and sprinkler systems non-existant.
11:15 PM on 03/21/2011
The republcans show no signs of want to go back to (name the year) Nobody is favor of firetraps. You are lying. They are against some collective bargaining for public workers because they are very costly, often times 80% of salary. Just as unions want to bargain, so do taxpayers. If unions can't deliver at an agreeable price, taxpayers should have the right to go elsewhere.

Unions did good work and we all enjoy the fruits of their labor. But they havent done much since the 1950s except collect union dues and go to Prison. Look at what the Labor department reported, just for 2010!!! Union Corruption

http://www .laborunio nreport.co m/portal/2 011/03/201 0-just-ano ther-year- in-union-c orruption/

Public Sector unions have a monopoly on government and taxpayers---Hmmm, interesting, 100 years ago there were still monopolies until Congress outlawed the,

Many states and locales dont alllow public sector collective bargaining-maybe a time for change...

Hmmmm...if you want to look at numbers just look at the fact that most times, right to work states are normally more dependent on federal dollars, get back more than they give, are towards the bottom on education and quality if life and rank in the bottom half in poverty.
