nytimes.com:

Last week, at a House hearing on financial institutions and consumer credit, Republicans lined up to grill and attack Elizabeth Warren, the law professor and bankruptcy expert who is in charge of setting up the new Consumer Financial Protection Bureau. Ostensibly, they believed that Ms. Warren had overstepped her legal authority by helping state attorneys general put together a proposed settlement with mortgage servicers, which are charged with a number of abuses.

This woman inspired me to pursue law. There are too few who can stand up with cajones bigger than the GOP TO the GOP.

Free markets as a ideal condition for business to flourish is fiction. There is no such thing as free market. We recently experienced what was wrought upon us by free markets.

Ms Warren the only true patriotic defender of the working class and not indebted to the Wall St Bankers and the corporate sleaze! Yeah they would pay anything to get her out and the White House who are former Wall St will not intervene! We are on our own America! Can't wait for 2012 and the demise of the corrupt and organized crime! Let's rid capital hill of all career politicians and vote in new prospects with term limits!

So what are you doing to defend her.
02:49 PM on 04/06/2011
Write her in for Pres!

I would like to think that this administration would defend Warren with the utmost vigor since she's one of the very few competent and honest officials at the federal level. My guess however is that support, if any, will be tepid and designed not to upset the entrenched corporate interests which really run our country.

Elizabeth on the Daily Show, how can you not support this woman?

Thank you President Obama for having the guts to put her in charge of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Of course the corporations and investors who have been making such a killing, and that is literally when it comes to the health care profiteers, want to silence Elizabeth Warren. She is on their "too effective" list, like ACORN, Bill Moyers, Michael Moore, Robert Reich, NPR, Rachel Maddow, and certainly, Prof. Krugman. Clarity and facts are a scary mixture for groups that want to keep millions of people ignorant about what is happening to our nation’s treasure. When they hear “winning the future” they intend to be the winners. They hope the rest of us will look around at a crumbling, outdated infrastructure and diminished education funding and agree that it is us who must tighten our belts. We are to be the losers.

The facts Dr. Warren provides can wash away years of propaganda-induced ignorance. No, American capitalism does not make it possible for most of us to become as rich as Croesus. Quite the contrary. With reckless, feckless corporations sending our jobs overseas, undermining our pensions, ignoring the unemployed, holding onto the available capital, and stealing away tax money that is needed for school children, health care, and building a 21st century nation, the average American will be lucky to stay above water.

The GOP behavior toward Elizabeth is systematic bullying. Their united effort against her is, in fact, a demonstration of how effective and capable she is. She is the current champion of the interests of average citizens, and understands that we are being screwed. I hope she continues to speak loudly and clearly, and some day will consider a run for the White House.

Also, I have noticed how effective Obama has been by the harrassment and problems my health insurance company is dishing out. I just love it. Probably, with the physicians not having many patients and the lack of consumers for the insurance companies, it's got to be very vexing for the devils. LOL Get thee behind me ol' Scratch.

Thank you Elizabeth Warren This is hard to watch but you are an amazing person and will, through simple logic, leave them little choice but to go along. We are all watching closer these days. http://www.nakedcapitalism.com/2011/03/16715.html

The Democrats and President Obama should not allow the Republicans to get away with the fantastic amount of disinformation they keep pissing out. This goes way beyond ideological differences. The Republicans and Fox News are willingly and knowingly misleading the American public.

Krugman should partner up with some like minded economists, to make sure the message is not lost or drowned out by the Republicans constant disinformation.

Stephen Roach Chairman for Morgan Stanley Asia, "...adding financial stability to the policy mandates of major central banks and empowering the Bank for International Settlements (BIS) with the authority of the global systemic risk regulator. Central banks need to be put on formal notice that the days of bubble-prone monetary policy are over. "
