Zooey Deschanel's Rimmel Ad: Too Retouched Or Just Right? (PHOTO, POLL)

Update: Turns out we aren't the only ones questioning this Photoshop job -- over the weekend, E! Online posted an entry entitled, "What Happened to Zooey Deschanel's Face?!" and Miss D. fired back on Twitter calling the site "RUDE!!!" We hope it was more about E!'s tone...or hopefully the "rude" was directed toward Rimmel's retouchers...

Previously: While we were busy fawning over Zooey Deschanel's latest fashions, we missed her new advertisement for Rimmel Lasting Finish Lipstick. But, in our defense, the image looks nothing like the actress-slash-songstress -- is a little heavy-handed airbrushing to blame? Wethinks so.

The Deschanel sisters are beautiful. I think that she's more beautiful in her real photos. The right one seems to have made her nose differently and she seems less recognizable, except for her eyes, which are hard to forget. No matter the photo, she is beautiful, but I prefer the original.

She looks like her in the campaigns' commercials.

a lot of actresses look very similar to her, so you'd think that they had already focused out her look as suitable. maybe they think she didn't have the focus tested look for English markets.

Why must we still insist on making people look like they can't possibly look in real life? Why do we even suggest to young beautiful women that they don't look quite good enough and need a "bit of work" whether it's re-touching" or actual plastic surgery?

When did we quit valuing minds and souls above all else?

I like fashion as much as the next person, but I want to see real folks in those clothes, so I have a better idea of how it will truly look on me.

It looks like they changed her nose. Why?

not to be mean because I like zooey but in this case I think some photoshopping was in order. they may have smoothed her out too much and made her look a little too porcelain but i see what they were trying to do

Zooey needs no retouching. That picture is abominable. I don't think I'd recognize it as her. They shouldn't bother to have real models on magazine covers - they should simply CG them.

I am astounded that the term "alterna-shill" is regarded as ad hominem and blocked by the moderators while the same readers and moderators are allowing all sorts of really REALLY ad hominem remarks about the repugnant Victoria Jackson. Are you a fan Ms. Moderator, or just full of cr@p? Put yourself to the test and see - will you block again my saying that Zoey Deschanel is an "Alterna-Shill? "cause she is one - of the first order - that's what I find repugnant (also Victoria Jackon is repugnant but that's another story). Let's see your integrity level....hmmm?
