Detlef S, German Incest Father Of Eight, Sentenced To Jail

Detlef S

KOBLENZ, Germany -- A German court on Tuesday convicted a man who fathered eight children with his stepdaughter of scores of counts of sexual abuse and sentenced him to 14 years, 6 months in prison.

The court found 48-year-old defendant, identified only as Detlef S., guilty of 162 counts of sexually abusing his children and forcing his daughter and stepdaughter into prostitution between 1987 and 2010.

He has confessed to the charges.

Detlef S., whose last name was withheld because of German privacy laws, first began molesting his daughter when she was nine, and after her 12th birthday party he regularly sexually assaulted her, the DAPD news agency reported.

Detlef S. had already been abusing his twin stepchildren, who are now 28. He started in 1987 when they were only four years old, and continued until 2010.

DNA samples confirmed Detlef S., a truck driver who lived in Fluterschen near Bonn, fathered seven of his stepdaughter's children. An eighth child passed away before DNA tests could be done, but he later admitted to fathering all eight children.

Shortly before the court announced the verdict, stepson Bjoern B., a co-plaintiff in the trial, told reporters that "Today is the day of truth, the day of justice."

"We have waited 13 years for this day," Bjoern B. said of himself and his siblings who were also abused by Detlef S.

Germany's Bild newspaper has called the suspect the "German Fritzl" – a reference to Europe's most infamous case of incest. Austrian Josef Fritzl was found guilty in 2009 of locking his daughter in a dungeon for 24 years and fathering seven children with her. He is serving a life sentence.

Again, it is NOT just 14 years, but 14 years + "Sicherheitsverwahrung", which will most likely mean he will never go free again.

Essentially, this is 14 years of prison, followed by "prison with certain privileges" for the rest of his life.

Thanks for the clarifications. I know Sicherheits, but Verwahrung is new word-treasure. :)

Some of those 'girls' allowed him to abuse them and pimp them into their latter 20's in a nice liberal feminized nation like Germany, hardly an Afghanistan. This actually happened on the same block I live on a couple of years ago, with the wife thrown into the mix to boot. molesting, pimpin' baby-making etc. These stories are not so uncommon as you might think.

What possibly could have prevented them from going to the police at least after they came of age? No male would have allowed this to happen for so long under that man's limited ability to enforce his will. Hence one of the big telling differences between men and women. Just as able as men? But they still need the patriarchy to protect them while they seek to undermine it and bad mouth it and replace the men with themselves at the helm.

Just listen to yourself! You don't see any hint of misogyny? Good Heaven's what century do you still live in? If you read the article carefully, he abused his step son as well. None of the kids came forward. If you have any modicum of general knowledge, you'd know that in horrible cases like this, kids suffer from brain washing, symptoms akin to Stockholm Syndrome and a host of other chronic psychological disorders that are ingrained into them through years of abuse. I don't know what your personal prejudices against women are, but your comment really is ''crass" and not worthy of a forum of this caliber!

yes, we all know he is hideous...

"Brainwashing" and "Stockholm Syndrome" are Pop Culture excuses often used to help people avoid responsibility for their own actions however ambivalent. Strictly Oprah fare.

Why isn't the nearly 30 yr old woman also charged with incest? Why are women given a pass for what they do and can claim male coercion on one day and claim they are not the weaker sex and fit to run things the other day?

Like states that have laws where a drunk man has sex with a drunk girl and they say legally a drunk women can't consent to sex, so he committed a crime of rape but she has not nor can she by definition!! So women are free to get wasted at some frat party act irresponsibly and if they feel bad about they did can cry rape because they have regrets or can't remember. And they do.

'Misogyny' When does that word not get throw about when a critical eye is cast at women? When feminists criticize men do you call that pathological and get outraged? Or are you that feminist?

There is a divide. 'Women' on one hand claim to be as fit to lead as any man (although men created civilization)( and women specialized in complaining about it, e.g. Women's Studies) (and are unproven in leadership roles still) and then on the other hand women want special laws and protections to avoid being held to the same standard as men.

Let's see how long he lasts in prison. Child molestors are not viewed kindly by the prison population
12:24 PM on 03/23/2011
I can't believe that he was sentenced to only 14 and a half years in prison. The number of children abused by him should be cause for life in prison. He will not be rehabilitated. He is a threat to society.

Why is his image protected?! it should be plastered under the heading "Monster" across the globe

I just had another thought...where was the mother of these children? I find it hard to believe she knew nothing, did nothing? I would have to be dead to stand aside and not take aim at his head for this behavior.
10:36 AM on 03/23/2011
So why hide the face? Why protect such a retched person? Fourteen years..sad really sad. Seems the acts of men against women and children have little or no importance in some society's today. Death would be more appropriate...it may happen if the prisons are anything like ours. He may have his coming to him. We can only hope it goes that way.

Cheney got rich with benefits. So 14 years is way more than the biggest criminals here ever got.

Why such a short prison term? That's outrageous. Years and years of rape and he just gets a measly 14 years

Let's hope he's held in the general prison population--those 14 years could prove to be hell on earth for him learning what it's like when you are helpless and say no but taken anyway.

I doubt he would have much sympathy from the world if the prison inmates imposed their own "justice" on him.

Justic isn't served...Justic might be served if like that guy a few weeks ago, the other prisoners cuts his head off. Where was the police when all this was going on? Surely someone would have mentioned this in all those years..
