Though temperatures were in the low 40's Wednesday morning, they are expected to drop in the afternoon and showers are likely after 1 p.m., according to the NWS. When temperatures dip into the low 20's Wednesday night, the rain could turn into snow.
On Thursday, Chicagoans could see the sun for the first time since Saturday, but temperatures will remain in the mid-30's. Rain or snow showers could return on Friday, and the winter weather is expected to stick around through the weekend.
On Saturday and Sunday, temperatures will remain in the mid-30's, dipping into the high 20's overnight. The cold weather will stick around through Tuesday, according to the weather service.
