Lawrence Taylor Talks Prostitution: 'It's The Oldest Profession In The World' (VIDEO)

Lawrence Taylor Interview

First Posted: 03/23/11 01:22 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:40 PM ET

After getting sentenced to six years probation for sexual misconduct and patronizing an underage prostitute on Monday, Lawrence Taylor went on Studio B with Shepard Smith and talked about his arrest last year.

Smith asked the former NFL star, who was arrested in May of last year and accused of third-degree rape, how he ended up soliciting the 16-year-old's services.

"I made a phone call to a friend of mine and he made a phone call," Taylor said.

The host asked if Taylor told his friend to find him somebody, which caused the ex-New York Giant to go into a rant about prostitution.

"It's the world of prostitution. You never know what you're going to get," he said. "If it was going to be a pretty girl, ugly girl."

Taylor, who pleaded guilty to two misdemeanor charges in January, went on to say that he doesn't card prostitutes or ask for their birth certificates.

"It's not that I solicit prostitutes often. Yes, I have been around for a lot of years. I've been in New York for a lot of years," he said. "I'm not looking for a relationship. I don't want a relationship. Sometimes I look for some company."

When asked if he doesn't mind paying for it, Taylor said he doesn't because "it's all clean."

"I'm not saying it's right, but it's the oldest profession in the world," he said.

Taylor also said he has used services before and it's "one of those crimes" that you never think about because "everybody does it."

Legalizing prostitution does indeed increase the demand for trafficked people. I work for the Chicago Alliance Against Sexual Exploitation. I responded to Taylor's probation here. He should be in jail. http://caase1821.blogspot.com/2011/03/how-lawrence-taylor-bought-child.html

How many underaged, trafficked women are working in the legal brothels in NV?

Okay, These are lame excuses. The Oldest Profession? Anybody that had any brain can read right through him. If he is so lonely go out and talk to people at Bar or a Lounge somewhere that is where go to meet people. There are legal dating websites that I am sure a person like LT could meet. I feel bad for the people that feel bad for him. He needs to get over himself and he isn't about the law. He paid to have with a 16 year old, that is what he did, no excuses accepted!

Stay strong, brother. We still love you.

That Gloria Allred is terrible........wish Lawrence could snap her leg too.

LT's lame explanation about his actions is music to the Teapublican strategist's ears.  I anticipate an exploratory meeting to discuss Mr. Taylor's possible candidacy for a seat in Congress with Florida's delegation.  He would be perfect.  Sexual relations with a young girl, a history of substance abuse, serial marital infidelity.  If elected, he would be a perfect majority whip for the Boehner-led House.  "My distinguished colleague, either you get on board on this bill, or will run over you and leave cleat marks on your shriveled chest."

I realize that the teen prostitute was only 16; however, what is being missed is that she is a juvenile and I don't believe that there is anyone advocating to legalize prositution of such young persons. Child porn is a growing concern. The concen that I have is where do you draw the line. for those who suggest that "its no big deal" for LT to have sex with a 16 year old, what about if she was 15, 14, 13 or 12 year old. Regardless of how old she said she was there has to be some signs that he was dealing with a minor and that is wrong. Didn't he questioned his contact about the age of the person he was to meet? With so many options out there, better choices were available to him. The girl was not out there on her own, isn't the authorities interested in who her pimp is, not was but is? He is the true criminal; he's out there waiting for her to come back to him. The question, should prostitution be legalized is a moral question? However, if you agree that it should, then do as Nevada does regulate the prositute and anyone caught without the proper credent. should be jailed. Finally, doesn't HIV come into play? Doesn't other sexual deseases matter? These are and should be a major concern as HIV has killed many, men and women.

inmytime, your points are well taken.  However, I do not believe, for a single minute that this is the first young girl that LT has had sex with.  This is the first time he has been caught.  I can't argue with the lengthy probation period or the listing of him name to the sex-offenders list.  If he does this again, he will be facing hard time.  And, hopefully at age 52, his "needs" will start to abate and he will be able to behave himself.

He took the chance and he will have to suffer the consequences. Gloria Alred now is trying to paint the girl as a saint which I doubt very much but that has nothing to do with his punishment.

Gloria Allred is like a vulture waiting to prey on women who are "victims" of some man. What's up with her? I do think that the young girl is probably a victim of her home environment and perhaps abused by someone. She was barely able to read the statement that Gloria had prepared for her to read on television. Someone is pimping this young girl out and that person needs to be jailed.
10:55 PM on 03/23/2011
i actually think better now of LT than before he came out with this statement.
04:05 AM on 03/24/2011
I do too. (Although I'm sure many here will disagree.)
10:02 AM on 03/24/2011
When I first heard that he was caught in a not-so-great hotel, having sex with an underage girl, all I could think was, there goes LT. flushing his life right down the toilet again. All the damage control he had done, after the drug problems and such, he had been working again, but this was like OJ's murder charge - he will never recover, and what the hell would he be doing with a teenager? Is he really just a sicko?
Now he comes out, and in what certainly seems like him telling the truth, and admits that he was soliciting prostitution. His assertion that "everyone does it" may not be completely accurate, but there is more truth there than most people would care to admit. At least it sounds like he is telling the truth, and that his intentions that night were perhaps not as sinister as it first seemed, though I suppose the end result is the same.
Whether or not he can recover from this, only time will tell; I think if he can, it will take a long, long time.

If the choice is working some cruddy job with no hope of advancement or selling one's body to make some money, who's to say the latter is the wrong choice? It might be... but that's a choice each individual has to make for himself/herself.

The issue is not if women want to sell themselves. He raped a 16 year old girl. The girl was beaten into submission before entering the room. LT paid her pimp $300. That girl did not see any of that. A 16 year old girl does not decide if she wants to be a prostitute....she should be in school not out with a pimp getting beaten.

Why didn't his wife provide him with sexual satisfaction? If he weren't so cheap, he could have used a professional "escort service".

I guess next we have the "right" to pay for air.

Don't we? If someone wants to sell air and you want to buy it, it isn't really any of our business what you spend your money on (as long as no one is getting hurt in the process :-)
