iPad 2 Users Report FaceTime Issue

The Huffington Post

Several customers on the Apple forums have been reporting that the FaceTime application, which supports video chat via the iPad's front-facing camera, has been freezing while in use.

"When I opened up FaceTime the first time, the camera was working fine, but now whenever I open it up, it just shows a still image from when I left," one user wrote.

AppleInsider found the thread in the forums and noted that some users have resolved the problem by restarting their iPad 2. Others remedied the issue by restoring the software.

Take a look at our roundup of customers' biggest complaints about the iPad 2, then see what reviewers are saying about the iPad 2 here (hint: they love it).

My iPad 2 has not had any issues with FaceTime and freezing. I have a 16 GB wifi model. Maybe the issues are occurring only 3G models. I would imagine there will be an update in the not to distant future to resolve it. Whenever there are issues Apple releases a fix, especially when you consider only a week or two after releasing iOS 4.3 Apple releases a bug fix (4.3.1). I have read stories about other devices (Android and Windows) that haven't gotten updates in a long time and are fairly current hardware.

The good news for Apple fans out there is that the iPad 2 has already shipped and can be found at select locations. There is no need to wait in a long line. The iPad 2 and other tablets can be obtained online at digitalundivide.com

shame, my beef has always been their shoddy hardware. as i recall their software bugs can be ugly and impossible to correct until they themselves patch it up.

It makes your statement look silly!

hmmm... how interesting. It's great that you pick ME to share this with, but someone posting about "Apple's shoddy hardware..." just two posts above gets no correction from you.
It's because they were saying something negative about Apple, so you turned a blind eye.
Don't worry, I'll copy your post as a reply to them!

But wait.......... I thought Apple could do no wrong............ surely this must be a user problem.........

All hail Apple, the king of faulty products. Don't know how they get so famous. Their success of the iPod isn't going to dig them out of the rut for very long.

Do you have some evidence that Apple products have a higher defect rate than any other consumer product?
04:52 PM on 03/25/2011
He doesn't. They don't, even with the iPhone 4 issues, they found the defect rate on par with othe phones, but when 20 times the phones are sold, 20 times the defects will occur.

I have this problem too.

Really? I'm no fanboy, but apps do crash occasionally, especially in the first month of release. All they had to do was open the multi-tasking menu and close it. This is no more of an iPad 2 issue than the Huffington Post's app, which crashes just about every time you open it.

Mine works perfectly. Maybe I am just lucky? In fact my IPad1 is perfect except for not getting Adobe Flash. My first computer, I LOVE it!!

Here I was clicking this article thinking it was something substantial, not an article about people that don't know how to restart an Apple mobile device...

It is a nice device but they said the price was going to be $499 but the price is $999. To rich for my blood. There are a lot of other devices I would buy for that kind of money.

Samsung products are made in Democratic south Korea. Although a nation's system of government is hardly an indicator of labor standards nowadays.
