Myspace

techcrunch.com:

Everyone knows MySpace traffic is going the wrong way, but the accelerating decline (and big financial losses) is a serious problem. Parent company News Corp. is in the middle of a sale process, and everyone from venture firms to private equity firms to operating companies are taking a look. "It's like slowing down at the scene of an accident," says one person with knowledge of the discussions, "everyone wants to take a look at how bad things have become."

Goodbye Myspace! the absolute worst website ever devised! It really says something when you can't even compete with a piece of trash like Facebook.

But my hat is placed firmly upon my head-- because after all, this is the glorious pattern of things. I am so excited knowing Facebook is next up to the guillotine.

What site will fill the void? Let us pray it's not nearly as destructive and pointless as Facebook. Let us pray!

Being several times as large as Myspace at it's peak and far, far more interconnected, Facebook has likely reached the state called "self-sustaining critical mass".

So basically, Myspace got the ball rolling, and Facebook perfected it.

I left Myspace when it got annoying, allowed to much spam, and had continual performance issues. I kept having to decline friend requests from fake strippers and music no-name artists. Then going to a persons profile and have music blaring also ticked me off. I've since deleted my account.

I could never understand any of these social sites. It's like inviting someone into the bathroom with you. MySpace, Facebook, Twitter? They'll all be tumbling weed in three years or less. Something new will come along that will "appear" to be more hip and those remaining on Facebook will the the online version of Clint Eastwood in Gran Torino.

Sharing my vacation pics with my friends and family is like inviting them into the bathroom with me? I don't know what you do on your vactions but it must be much different than mine.

The reference was for those who spend countless hours on the sites letting everyone know every waking minute of their existence. The fact that my analogy was lost on you is frightening.

MySpace goofed by letting users go overboard on customizing their pages. Horrendous wallpapers, horrendous animated graphics and god awful music. Those nasty pages will forever haunt me.

I think it's been smart of Facebook to be minimalist by comparison.

shocking!
not!
they were' the "blockbuster's" of online social sites,
horrible service,
blocks and bans for NO reason,
yup
they were arrogant for an online minute,
all of 15 seconds. And right now when you log on to Myspace, they won't allow you to LOG back out! It's almost a hostage situation. If I need to log out of Facebook or Youtube. Upper right hand corner. I had to GOOGLE how to log out of Myspace, and the only solution was to shut the whole computer down, and restart!

More than 60 million people still visit MySpace? That's the most shocking part of the story.

GameGuru is right. Plus, I quit MySpace because I was tired of everyone's pages locking up my computer.
