A heartbreaking story out of Brooklyn today of couple Nathan and Elisa Bond, who have an 18-month old daughter, who were both diagnosed with advanced cancer within just 9 days of each other.

From CBS News:

In a nine-day span, both Nathan Bond, 38, and his wife, 36-year-old Elisa, learned that they have advanced cancer. Nathan found out on Valentine's Day.

Nathan has Stage 3 colorectal cancer. He has been given given a 60% chance of surviving five years or more. Elisa has Stage 4 breast cancer and has just a 16% chance of surviving five years.

The grueling routine of chemotherapy and treatment has forced the Bay Ridge parents to take medical leaves from their jobs, The New York Daily News reports. Nathan is an artist who works at Parsons, and Elisa is a real estate agent.

Friends and family of the couple, who met in 2004 and married in 2005, have rallied in support, driving the couple to doctor's appointments and taking care of their young daughter, Sadie. A website has also been created to raise money for the couple who are facing medical bills not covered by insurance. (Visit the website here if you'd like to donate).

Friends, calling themselves Team Bond, also put together the video below, telling the couple's story and "Calling all friends...and friends of friends" to help the couple defy the odds.

Lots of lovely thoughts from the HuffPost people. If you have a few dollars to spare there is a link in the article where you can donate to their Medical Trust.

This just shattered my heart! I'm not going to be able to stop thinking about them. I can't help but wonder if there might be an environmental reason for these 2 young people to get sick this way. My heart goes out to them and their little girl!!

I read about this Friday and am still so consumed by it a few days later. Wish there was something, anything I can do other than to give the few bucks that I can afford. I need these two to fight and win and will do anything I can to help. Fight, fight, fight!!! God bless.

I hope this family defies the odds and survives, if for no other reason, than for someone to care for the innocent baby involved in this...

There is a great deal of reliable information on the internet regarding Vitamin D3 and Breast Cancer. I didn't post links with the others I posted below to save time and because there are simply so many to be found. Good luck.

I wasn't as clear on that as I should have been though - what I should have said is that there are numerous recent studies (past few years) about the connection between Breast Cancer and VD3 deficiency.

A heartbreaking tragedy - my heart goes out to them.

Here is Information that might help - I'll put it up in two posts since it is too long for one:

****************

Experts say Vitamin D3 can cure up to 90% of 75% of cancers. Additionally - outcomes are consistently better when the patients are NOT VD3 deficient. Also - Toxicity starts to become an issue around 200ng/ml - keep this in mind when viewing the chart below.

Do you know anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer? What if cancer could be cured naturally without resorting to radical treatment? There is at least one case online which was documented. Google "Cured: A Cannabis Story" by David Triplett. Spread the word!

What a heart breaker. How cruel can life be. It is news like this that make me question the existence of god. May they recover and know no pain, may they live a joy filled life that's healthy and happy.

To BcemXAHA - I heard the story yesterday driving home and I had the same response as you. I wondered if there is a God, why did he make this happen to these two beautiful, young people with a baby. I pray that they do not suffer and that an 'angel' is found to take care of their baby.

This is a sad story on many levels. Of course the idea of two young people receiving such horrible news at the same time, and the young child is beyond all imagination. Fortunately, this couple appears to be able to afford some of the expenses that go beyond health insurance, and they have devoted family and friends to help, as well as a fund raising juggernaut in place quickly that will raise millions of dollars. Equally sad is the fate of those people without family support, without money, without youth and glamour and a fund raising team who die lonely and virtually in the gutter. As you write your check to this one family, think about how we need to change our society's priorities to give equal help to the 80 year olds who are not so pretty but who suffer horribly without the money, love and support that this tragic young family has to spare. No one should die alone in poverty, and yet millions of Americans do. Go ahead, feel good that you send your check to this young family. But please do not forget the thousands dying a slow death in America, many of whom have given their lives to public service.

I am wishing you all strength and support - - I am sure info is coming at the family from all sides now as they deal with this part of their journey but I truly recommend this documentary and website by Kris Carr, who stopped her stage 4 cancer in its tracks... no matter what path you choose to work for wellness, she has a lot of good information and hope for anyone:

Yet another family that has to go begging on the internet for money to fight a health problem not covered by insurance...

The coincidence of them both getting advanced cancer at the same time is sad, but the Facebook donation thing is disgraceful. Nobody should have to do that to get their cancer treatment.

Shameful in that we have no government program to provide for this. Hopeful in that there is a medium for this problem to be presented on and that others would reach out to help this couple.
