Lady Gaga Goes Country For 'Born This Way' (VIDEO)

Gaga

First Posted: 03/25/11 05:30 PM ET Updated: 05/25/11 07:40 PM ET

Lady Gaga's most recent single was not in fact "born this way." It was born as a classic Gaga radio smash-hit, yet in its nascent months has been transformed into "The Country Road Version" you can hear below. The track was produced by Fernando Garibay, who also produced the original "Born This Way." Gaga is currently working on the video for the alternate rendition.

The new version of the tune is slowed down to a country lilt and saddled with some dirty harmonica, slide guitar, and honeyed harmonies. She also adds a couple new lyrics to suit the southern tinge: "If I wanna make it country, baby, then it's OK, cuz I was born, I was born, I was born this way. From London, Paris, Japan back to USA/ I was born on the road, I was born to be brave." Nashville would be proud...probably.

Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but those of you who take the time to criticize Gaga are a mystery to me.

Why does Gaga bother you so much? The old Madonna comparisons are irrelevant to the point of inanity. Madonna was hardly original! All musical artists are inspired by others. So the "f" what?

I never paid the slightest attention to Madonna but Gaga earned my fandom with her talent, her polished performances on TV and yes, her videos! Her videos are art! Paparazzi video is art, Bad Romance video is art!

You see, I am entitled to my own opinion, too. According to Billboard, Lady Gaga was the number one earning musical artist of 2010. She touches people. You don't get her, your problem. Gaga rocks. For someone so young, her poise and professionalism as a performer are astonishing. Yes, I've seen her live but it's the whole package that I enjoy.

Count me in the 1% above 30 who love Gaga. Am I trying to capture lost youth or whatever ridiculous comment was made previously...hell, no. I just enjoy Lady Gaga as a performer, an entertainer, and an artist. She brings me joy. She is extremely intelligent. Did any of you see her Google interview which appears on HuffPo? People LOVE her.

You don't? I feel sorry for you, for your need to feel superior with your phony disdain.

Get a life?

The Madonna comparisons are typical, but even I had to raise an eyebrow with 'Born This Way'. I thought it was a re-orchestrated version of 'Vogue'.

She is ripping off Madonna again. Her whole act is one big Madonna ripoff act.

That is NOT Country music.  Adding a harmonica doesn't make it so.

"Put your paws up" has got to be one of the dumbest lyrics I've heard.

But according to the Lady Gargle Nation, it's an art form and she's the best thing since sliced bread!

Seriously, I don't understand the appeal she has. She's ripping off of other artists' images and uses over the top antics to promote herself.

Like the King of Pop once said, "It is better to fail in originality than to succeed in imitation, period."

It shows you how many mindless sheep there are out there. millions of facebook fans, less than 1% over the age of 30. Those who are being desperate to feel "hip" and young again.

It refers to how she and her fans make their hands into a claw. People don't put their hands up at her concerts, they put their paws up. Brilliant symbolism in my opinion.

Proof that Lady Gargle has no talent to speak of.

If she did, she wouldn't need these cheap publicity stunts to keep attention focused on her.

It's telling how actual talented artists like Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Faith Hill, Gwen Stefani, Sheryl Crow, Christina Perri, Natasha Bedingfield get outshone by these notalenthacks like Lady Gargle, Katy Perry, and Taylor Swift.

And it's sad that the Gargle Nation continues to give excuses for these cheap publicity stunts. Flashback to 2005, and Kelly Clarkson was a multiplatinum seller and multiple Grammy winner because she made actual music with her album Breakaway, and didn't need cheap publicity... she actually EARNED her place as a solid female pop artist, what has Lady Gargle done that screams "talented" and is worthy of respect?

Wow. You don't have to like Gaga, and so far her music is not for me, save a few songs, but even I can say, after having bought her music for my neice, that the girl can write songs. She had so many obvious hits on the Fame and Fame Monsters, catchy songs with great hooks and melodies and a distinct sound, nothing like the other poptarts out there, where so many sound the same and can belt out a song acapella and play piano beautifully. I'm sick of her over the top antics, but would never ever say she's not talented. And she has a very strong workth ethic, been touring for almost three straight years.

What can I say, but "H8rs gonna h8." Sounds like an "agony" of jealousy to me!

Miley Cyrus and Taylor Swift have catchy hooks and write their songs as well.

Lady Gargle can write? What song(s) has she written that have a message? Before BTW, she was putting out the same old clubgarbage that is polluting the airwaves.

You want a popstar who writes with meaning, Kelly Clarkson, first American Idol winner. She was successful on HER OWN merits, and wrote songs with actual meanings: "Behind These Hazel Eyes," "Since U Been Gone," "Because of You," and won multiple Grammy awards, all without the cheap publicity stunts like Lady Gargle.

Lady Gargle is NOT talented, that is a fact. If she had an ounce of talent, she wouldn't need the antics to stay relevant.

People...it's pop music...so it pops...and she pops out more than the usuall poppette ..because she is not just a singer/songwriter...she is a showman...an over the top one at that...and whether you like it or not...it has worked for her.
By the way...where is that multiplatinum seller and multiple Grammy winner Kelly Clarkson? Haven't heard her in a while.
01:34 PM on 03/27/2011
You haven't heard Kelly Clarkson because Lady Gargle hogs and steals the spotlight with batchitcrazy antics.

If I wanted batchitcrazy antics, I'd turn on FoxLies and watch the Republicans rant and rave about POTUS being a MuslimKenaynsocialistmarxist who wants to bring down America, not from a "pop artist" who is nothing more than a corporate America gimmick.

I was wondering what happened to Gaga.
Haven't seen her around for so long. (sarcasm)
I'm waiting for the polka version.

Love Gaga but HATE this version.

She, basically, changed nothing. It sounds like she took the vocal track and laid it over a country instrumental, which does nothing for the music. She should have adjusted the song and energy of it to match the instruments.
07:13 PM on 03/27/2011
What are you talking about? Not only did she "adjust it", she completely rerecorded the vocal track (+ added the new lyrics).
06:20 PM on 03/26/2011
She will do anything for an extra buck. Even tricks on a dark alley if she needs to!
06:03 PM on 03/26/2011
I love how she's forcing her "anthem of a generation" down our throats...
04:34 PM on 03/26/2011
Okay, I'm officially sick of this song. She's trying too hard now. It's getting annoying.
