Bea Arthur's Cliff May Ranch For $32,500/Month

The Huffington Post     First Posted: 03/28/11 04:24 PM ET   Updated: 05/26/11 06:12 AM ET

Bea Arthur’s Cliff May ranch-style home is available for lease at $32,500 per month. The property is located in Sullivan Canyon amongst many other Cliff May homes, including Cliff May’s personal residence.

The Golden Girls star began living in the home in 1975, shortly after her move from New York City in 1972. Curbed LA quotes Arthur as saying, "This is country out here... I can walk around without anything on and nobody cares, and it's just lovely."

From 2005 through 2007, designer Matt Saks completed a renovation of the ranch home and property grounds. The listing states that Saks, “retained the charm... and modified the aesthetics to complete an incredible Spanish Courtyard Estate.” The square footage is now approximately 6,000. This home has five bedrooms, including a master suite, numerous walk in closets, travertine floors, two offices, a great room, a media room, a tennis court, and a resort-sized pool and spa. All this is surrounded by four acres of living sycamore and California oaks, gardens, waterfalls and hiking trails. And for guests, there is parking for twelve cars in the gated motorcourt.

On April 25, 2009, actress and activist Bea Arthur lost her battle with cancer. According to the Los Angeles Times, she passed away “at her home in Los Angeles.” She was 86.

2000 Old Ranch Road is listed by Richard Stearns at Partners Trust.

Pretty awesome. I would fixup the kitchen and replace the tile floors with wood. But I love all the trees and privacy it looks like it has.

And oh how I miss "Dorothy", I try to catch reruns of the Golden Girls when I can, esp when I need a good laugh! "Ma!" "Shady Pines...." LOL

Lovely house to be sure tho, other than the ceiling beams, I can see very little Cliff May about it.

Amazing how all you eat-the-rich, CEO-pay-is-too-high libs suddenly melt into a puddle and coo when one of your lib Westside celebs drops $10M on a house.

The "eat-the-rich" people are few. Many libs have no issue with the wealthy as long as they are also socially responsible. The value of a society is not how much money we have, but how we care for the least among us. In Hollywood most people are Dems or left-leaning Independents. We also have higher salaries than most of the country, but when it came to discussing how many of the highly paid in Hollywood was FOR raising taxes on the upper 2% - it was supported by most, even though that means we have to pay more.

I would rather pay 2-3% more so the unemployed get a lifeline, the poor can eat and get off the streets, and children get schooling where the teachers are not overworked with a class of 50 kids, then pay less and watch our country turn into a giant Mumbai.

Really lovely.......but I have to ask - why the two different kitchen cabinets? Dark wood on some surfaces and white on others? Just looks kinda odd to me.

We get to see a lot of over-built and under-decorated monstrosities here -- but this actually looks very comfortable and warm... what a rarity.
