Fox News' Chris Wallace Slams White House For Blocking Access To Clinton, Gates (VIDEO)

First Posted: 03/27/11 03:01 PM ET Updated: 05/27/11 06:12 AM ET

Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton and Secretary of Defense Robert Gates made the talk show rounds on Sunday, appearing on ABC, CBS and NBC to discuss Libya. However, they did not go on Fox News--something which made Chris Wallace, host of "Fox News Sunday," very unhappy--and he let his viewers know it. (h/t Politico.)

After ending an interview with former Speaker Newt Gingrich, Wallace said:

"Of course we wanted to get the White House view on Libya. However, they chose to offer Secretary of State Clinton and Defense Secretary Gates to ABC, CBS and NBC, but not to Fox. Despite the fact that we routinely have more viewers than two of those Sunday shows, the Obama team felt no need to explain to the millions of you who watch this program and Fox News why they have sent U.S. servicemen and women into combat. We thought you'd like to know."

When frequent Sunday talk show guest John McCain came on for the next interview, Wallace asked him about something said on "one of those other Sunday shows."

If they granted news interviews to Fauxnews, they would also have to grant interviews to other celebrity entertainment outlets like the Onion News Network and Adult Video News and the World Wrestling Entertainment that share Fauxnew's basic format and content outlines.

If there's one thing that the Bill O'Reilley interview proved, it is that Fauxnews is fundamentally not a news station and  Read More...

I do not watch cable news. Sunday past I was visiting a brother who watches this Wallace jerk, so I was stuck. Without question this supposed newsman is the rudest, most obnoxious person. Oh well thats enough of that. During one segment one rep and one dem were quests. He interrupted the dem eight times so rudely it almost became vulgar. In his defense he did interrupt the rep. once saying "sir, If I may interrupt.

Fox is a wing of the Republican party and they are totally in existence to push the republican agenda so why should the President waste his time.

Chris, viewers must go to other stations to get news. Fox is an opinionated, propaganda station. Fox isn't even fair and balanced to the right wing, more like the defenders of right wing political agenda. You went from attacking a 3% tax increase on people making over 250 thou/yr, to claiming that teachers making 51 thou/yr as being overpaid, in 3 months time.

Since Fox is less a true news channel than Cartoon Network or MTV, it is perfectly acceptable that public figures don't take it seriously enough to show up.

cris wallace didnt complain when bush and cheney were taking us into this mess...what a piece of work...put him on an opinion show not real news.

You are so correct. I did like him. But he is just another voice for far right and Faux News. I have cancelled my subscription to Fox News.

The president didn't go on the Family Channel or HBO either. Does that disrespect THEIR viewers? He went on all the News channels, and Fox Entertainment gets left out. sob sob.

"Fox slams the White House" ---and this is a news....It happens every day of the week, every hour of the day....and it is no wonder Clinton and Gates skipped them....why go to a Fox when they won't be able to get a word in edge wise....and be villiified every step of the way....

"we routinely have more viewers"? REALLY? That's his argument? Does he know that it's supposed to be journalism? Do they know that the Foxicans have done NOTHING to endear themselves to this administration? Do they not realize that the President has bent over backwards to be accommodating to Fox? And, seriously, after Chris Wallace was bitchslapped by Bill Clinton, does he really want to get into the ring with Hillary? He better come up with a safe word this time.

There is a reason Chris. You know what it is. Question is, are you prepared to do something about it or will you continue to have trouble sleeping at night.

Your call.
