Armie Hammer In 'The Brothers Grimm: Snow White': Star Cast As Prince

Armie Hammer

Armie Hammer played two spoiled twins in "The Social Network," and now, he gets to play an actual prince.

According to Deadline.com, the strapping, rising star has been cast as Prince Andrew Alcott in "The Brothers Grimm: Snow White," Relativity Media's more mature retelling of the classic fairy tale. Hammer joins Julia Roberts, who was earlier booked as the Evil Queen, on director Tarsem Singh's cast sheet.

"The Lovely Bones," and soon-to-be "Hanna" star Saoirse Ronan is in discussions to join the film as the titular princess Snow White, Deadline also reports. However, given the age gap between Ronan (16) and Hammer (24), their pairing may be unlikely, The Wrap reports.

Hammer's profile, boosted by his double effort in "The Social Network," is set to experience another huge spike, as he shares screen time with Leonardo DiCaprio in "J. Edgar," Clint Eastwood's biopic about former FBI director J. Edgar Hoover. Hammer plays Clyde Toulson, Hoover's assistant FBI director and rumored lover.

The Snow White fairy tale is experiencing a film renaissance; in addition to Relativity's project, Universal is also doing its own more adult version, with Kristen Stewart playing Snow White in "Snow White and the Huntsman." Charlize Theron will play the Evil Queen in that film; Viggo Mortensen, who was in talks to play the heroic Huntsman, recently dropped out of contention.

In addition, Disney is rumored to be planning its own retelling, a 19th century China-set adaptation called "Snow and the Seven", with Natalie Portman a potential Snow White.

The fact that he's being cast as a prince is all well and good, but I seriously can't WAIT to see him making out with Leo Di Caprio in the J. Edgar Hoover movie! LOL

More evidence that we won't be seeing anything original out of Hollywood anymore. With the death of Liz Taylor, so went the death of originality.

Are you talking about movies or people? Because Liz hadn't made a movie in years before her death.

I would let him do naughty things to me...
Also, I have to comment on the "Armie Hammer" title- a bit exploitative of his folks to come up with that name, WTF?

How many fracking re-shoots of Snow White do we need?!?!?!

come on . He's way to old to be playing against Saoirse Ronan as Snow White. Mila Kunis would work better for him , if they have to use him.

You can't say someone is "way too old" when the person isn't even 10 years older than their counterpart.lol

Is his grandfather (or great) the over the top rich Armand Hammer? If so, my gawd, no fair, looks AND billions in inheritance? But he is a looker for sure. As I read on in this article, what truly annoyed me the very most was that there are THREE Snow Whites coming out..all with big name stars? My gawd, all the original, wonderful writers out there (yes like me :-( who can't get a break or even close and some studio mindset fixates on Snow White? Theron vs Roberts as evil queens.
I'm sorry, it's just too much. One great new take on the old fable might be good...three?
I'm past confused.
I hope they remember how poorly the Damon Brother's Grimm thing was and how Red Riding Hood thing with Amanda didn't do very well at the box office.
Question: what will hollywood call the dwarfs? little people small people? I know that the terminology has changed since days of the Munchkins.

He's related. The great-grandson, I believe, and namesake of Armand Hammer.

Being a son of privilege, his role in social network suited him well. His background also has generated some buzz that he might make a fitting Bruce Wayne. I guess a prince fits that bill too. Yet, his most fitting role will come when they cast him in the Baskin Robbins story as 'vanilla.'
