Drew Larman, center for the Floria Everblades of the East Coast Hockey League, turned out to be a hero earlier this month when he caught someone running away with a woman's purse.
According to the Naples News, Larman was shopping at a Sweetbay Supermarket in Fort Myers, Fla. on March 3 when he heard a loud scream from 59-year-old Beverly Whaley. Larman reportedly dropped his things once he heard the scream and chased after the unknown assailant who had left the store with Whaley's purse.
Worried that the man could have a weapon, or perhaps an accomplice, Larman surveyed the situation for a brief second before realizing the man was acting alone. As the thief jumped into his car, Larman continued his pursuit, and proceeded to use his 6-foot-3 195-pound frame to stop the man from escaping with Whaley's purse.
Larman said he took the purse back and watched the man drive off. The incident is still under investigation.
