For Blair Griffith, the reigning Miss Colorado USA, the year since she won her title hasn't been ideal.
The beauty queen and her mother became homeless in November after being evicted from their home. Griffith also lost her job. The pair has been living with friends, struggling to pay off student loans and medical bills accumulated from being uninsured.
Now, a local dress designer Mac Duggal has offered to lend a hand by creating gowns for Griffith for free, WLS-TV reports. Griffith plans to compete to defend her title in June.
Duggal told WLS-TV,
"I think she is beautiful. She's gorgeous. She's a survivor. She has gone through a lot. When I heard all of that, it wasn't even a question. It was just an automatic thing to do, you know."
