Felix Handelman: Elizabeth Banks Has Baby Boy Through Surrogate

Elizabeth Banks

Elizabeth Banks is now a proud mother.

The "W" and "30 Rock" star announced on her blog that she and her husband, Max Handelman, had a baby boy named Felix via surrogate.

Banks wrote, in part:

The one true hurdle I've faced in life is that I have a broken belly. After years of trying to get pregnant, exploring the range of fertility treatments, all unsuccessful, our journey led us to gestational surrogacy: we make a "baby cake" and bake it in another woman's "oven".

From that came two miracles. The first was meeting our carrier and her husband who were truly humbling in their decency and generosity. And the second miracle was the birth of our baby boy, Felix Handelman. Felix means "happy" and "lucky" in Latin. And true to his name, Felix is a very happy baby and a blessing on our life.

Banks and Handelman married in 2003; they are college sweethearts. Handelman is a sports writer and producer, whose first film was a Bruce Willis sci-fi thriller titled, funnily enough, "Surrogates."

Banks will be seen later this year in the Paul Rudd-starring film "My Idiot Brother."

She was excellent in that movie with Russell Crowe, Three Days, I think it's called. Really good thriller. Great acting by both.

That was a great movie not sure why it got such mixed reviews-- Sure the middle was a tad boring but it had to build the characters and the entire story of her being in jail for so long. However the escape scene was awesome I was seriously on nerves and it reminded me of something Hitchcock like. By that, I mean it didn't need all the bells and whistles most of today's flicks do, It was subtle suspense panning from the watch to Crowe's determined yet nervous face and jitter body movements and such.
