nytimes.com:

Veteran journalist Robert MacNeil will return to the "PBS NewsHour" in April for a six-part series of reports on autism, the program said Tuesday. The series will mark the first time Mr. MacNeil, who stepped down as the program's co-anchor in 1995, has reported for the "NewsHour" in a decade.

Welcome back Mr. MacNeil. You have been missed by thoughtful viewers of television news.

I'm glad PBS is smart enough to ask a respected journalist back for important issue. They've shown they appreciate their audience and they've displayed great intelligence doing that'

HOWEVER, in the Iowa and Illinois PBS area, I have to say they have REALLY missed the mark in their advertising for PBS. ACTUALLY, I'd say they've downright angried their viewers with the "THIS IS YOURS" promotion. All goes exceedingly well in a very patriotic and tear-jerking way UNTIL there are what appears to be MENACING eyes of some particular person. Whether this person is a blue eyed blond haired, or green eyed brunette haired, or a black eyed black haired, it makes NO difference. WHAT makes a difference is it appears that only people like those with the MENACING eyes have the right to this country because according to the ad, RIGHT after all the pictures of the United States iconic scenes with the words "THIS IS YOURS" blazened over the scenes, THOSE MENACING EYES APPEAR---like the United States belongs to only her and her kind.

Menacing eyed peopole are just superior to others. It's just that way. Can't be helped.

Yes, I hear it in his voice. I spent a lot of time in Canada, and I like the sound of it.

Interesting information about MacNeil. He was on the scene when President Kennedy was shot, and he covered Watergate. I read one of his novels after hearing him confess how awkward it felt to be discussing the "sex scene" he wrote in the novel. He's definitely not Philip Roth.

He lives in my neighborhood, I see him walking around all the time. I always wonder why he's not on the air.
