The Chicago Cubs are set to play their home opener against the Pittsburgh Pirates Friday afternoon, and while Wrigley Field is ready to go, the weather might put a damper on things.

The National Weather Service is predicting rain Friday afternoon between 1 and 4 p.m. The Cubs game is set to start at 1:20 p.m.

The forecast didn't stop fans from getting to the ballpark early on game day. WBEZ reports that some Wrigleyville bars had fans lining by 6 a.m.

"You know the fun and excitement of getting up the morning after Christmas for all the sales? Well, it's the same thing. It's the same thing with the game. It's just exciting," fan Margo Romme told the station.

The rain could last through 1 a.m., but Saturday is expected to be 50 degrees and sunny, according to the NWS.
