Jalen Rose Pulled Espn

ESPN pulled NBA analyst Jalen Rose off the air on Friday after it was revealed that Rose didn't tell anyone about his DUI arrest for almost three weeks, according to Michael McCarthy of USA Today.

It was reported on Tuesday that ESPN analyst Jalen Rose was arrested for driving under the influence in early March.

ESPN spokesman Josh Krulewitz emailed USA Today's Game On!, explaining that Rose and his employers are "taking this very seriously" and both parties "agreed that he will not be on our air while he addresses this situation."

On Thursday, the Poynter Institute's Kelly McBride and Regina McCombs published a story titled "Rose's concealment compromises ESPN."

The report explains that ESPN encourages its talent to "tell their bosses about potentially embarrassing personal issues that might become public."

No Duke doesn't recruit players who drink and drive, they recruit players who go after fans in the stands.

I'm sorry, but what does his arrest for DUI have to do with his ability to speak about sports? He isn't an elected official- he's a sports analyst. While I believe drinking while under the influence is a serious offense (he's luckily he didn't hurt himself of someone else), unless he signed a morality clause in his contract then ESPN has no right to fire him or even suspend him.

Its unbelievable Rose would be pulled off the air after ESPN's blatantly gender-based decision on Dana Jacobsen. Jacobsen received only a week suspension for something many view is more egregious. " F ___ Jesus!" screamed at a Notre Dame University function would have been cause for an immeidiate firing at any other broadcast outlet. She was drunk in public and offended many more people.
Rose should be suspended, but the idea that Kornheiser and Rose recieved a longer punishments than Jacobsen just because ESPN execs are too emasculated to take discipline against women is pathetic.

these things need to be addressed. I don't know why he didn't clear the air -- hello??! He works in broadcasting! Did he really think that this issue wouldn't come to light and end up even worse after conveniently ignoring it?

Would a ticket for texting while driving warranted a job suspension?

So could someone driving over the speed limit.

This from the "network" that refused to report on the allegations regarding Brett Favre for months...so as not to ruin whatever access they had....so if you're white, send cell pics of your winkie to a female team employee, act like the petulant, washed-up aging veteran you are, AND you're a rating boon for the network...nobody will utter a peep. But if you're a Brother nabbed off-the-clock for a DUI(which is no biggie anymore...its more of a fundrasier for the local police)...you're suspended immediatley pending an investigation! Glad to see all that diversity training has paid off...

Brent Favre is not an ESPN employee so I don't get your point.

Favre does not work for ESPN and DUI is a biggie, so it has nothing to do with him being a "Brother".

Why so quiet on Syria Mr. President?

Sounds like an excuse to really hire Katie Couric! With her hard hitting questions and in depth analysis ESPN wants to take their basketball programming in a different direction.

What a lame excuse. I wonder if it was John Berry would we even be hearing about this. The double standards just keep coming.

Honestly, this "Everything in your life is our business," crap has gotten completely out of control.

If he had said something racist or offensive on the air, I could understand. But something happened in his life that had absolutely nothing to do with his job, or with his ability to do that job. How that deserves a suspension is completely beyond me.
