'Seeking A Friend For The End of The World': Steve Carell Attached, Keira Knightley Next?

Posted: Updated:

Steve Carell left "The Office" to pursue movies full time. This could be a good start.

Carell, who has already starred in such hits as "The 40 Year Old Virgin," "Anchorman" and "Get Smart," will start his post-Dunder Mifflin career with an action romance called "Seeking A Friend For the End of the World," Deadline reports. He'll play a man pursuing his high school sweetheart after his wife leaves him in the midst of an apocalyptic meltdown.

Serious stuff.

He's joined on his journey by another woman, which of course complicates things. Keira Knightley, Deadline says, is the top choice for the part and is in negotiations for the role.

Carell is leaving "The Office" after seven stellar seasons; he's finished filming his final episode as Michael Scott, which will air on April 28th.
