Is it possible to assign a dollar value to a specific person? Duh, yes, Rutgers University just did it: Jersey Shore's Snooki is worth $32,000 and Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison is worth $30,000.

Very interesting the way HP chose to headline this issue.

Last week I responded to a headline that asked the question "Is Toni Morrison worth $30,000?" Many on that page believed she WAS NOT, and went on forever about it, even suggesting that she should VOLUNTEER to speak at commencements. I referred them to some speakers bureaus on line that showed entertainers and athletes raking in $50,000 to $200,000 for one short speech. (Palin has gotten upwards of $100,000 for her "speeches".)

This Snooki headline is not a question, but an affirmation "Snooki IS worth $2,000 More than Toni Morrison". I know this in tongue-in-cheek stuff, but now you have to ask the question of WHY did HP questioned the worth of Toni Morrison in the first place? (Morrison is an iconic, noted, and well respected best selling author, Nobel and Pulitzer Prize winner, Literature Prof. at Princeton, Texas Southern, Yale and Howard.)

One can only guess why they questioned Morrison's worth, when her fee was a pittance compared to most celebrities. I think this article, with the same institution paying this questionable "entertainer" even more, shows how ridiculous the question about Morrison was. to begin with.

America's priorites are so completely "fubar'ed" that it would take a huge number of charts and graphs to even begin to explain exactly how "fubar'ed" our priorities have become.

And this truly pathetic Snooki (and I use the term loosely) person and what she was paid by Rutgers is one "ginormously" glaring example.

(shaking head in disbelief.)

This news story results in ever increasing levels of nausea. First, to discover that commencement speakers...even those as esteemed as Toni Morrison...are paid such outlandish fees. I was under the naive impression that these "luminaries" spoke at a commencement ceremonies because they were honored by the invitation. The nausea built when I read that Katie Couric...the most overpaid teleprompter reader on television...received almost as much as Toni Morrison as a commencement speaker. I could barely keep the vomit down when I read that Snooki, who has no discernable talent whatsoever, is getting paid 32 grand for having absolutely nothing to say. It turned into full-blown projectile vomit to learn that the money is being paid by a state-run college from mandatory student fees! The President of Rutgers should be fired and replaced by....Charlie Sheen! I need some Pepto!

Further proof that the path to riches in this country is mediocrity.

If snookie was worth ten cents, toni morrison would be worth a million. What could this freak possibly have to say that would benefit college students? 15 minutes?

Aren't her 15 minutes over yet?

Few things render me speechless these days, given the state of the world. But this...there really are no words.

Something odd about her face. Does she wear dentures?

Gee, if this doesn't get students inspired to hit the books and use education as the means to succeed, what will? Maybe Rutgers can increase tuition and have enough money to hire a Kardashian next year.

That is pretty goofy. No one will know who Snookie is in five years, but Toni Morrison will be famous for decades at least, and perhaps longer for her contributions to literature and western civilization. I have do idea what formula they used to come up with their valuation, but it was obviously flawed, and says more about the value of a Rutgers education than it does about either Snookie or Toni Morrison. Incidentally, those two names should never be uttered in the same sentence, and I have committed that grievous sin twice. I beg your pardon.
