Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon Perform Rebecca Black's 'Friday' With Taylor Hicks & The Roots (VIDEO)

Colbert Fallon Friday

Time for a confession: we really thought this whole "Stephen Colbert is going to sing Rebecca Black's 'Friday' on 'Late Night with Jimmy Fallon'" thing was going to be an elaborate April Fools' Day prank. Of course, we wanted it to happen; we were hoping against hope that it would happen; but our cynical side was telling us, "No way."

But on Friday's "Late Night," Best Friends Forever For Six Months Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Fallon delivered big time. From The Roots rocking the pants off of a song that had no business getting that kind of treatment, to Taylor Hicks' surprise appearance, it was a glorious happening all around.

Basically, this is what late night TV was made for. And on top of being the perfect culmination to a hilarious saga, the Fallon-Colbert Project also happened to raise quite a bit of money for Donor's Choose.

Stephen Colbert, Jimmy Fallon, Taylor Hicks, The Roots and The Knicks City Dancers did an awesome skit with the #Friday song. I have lost count on the number of times I've watched this EPIC video.

I hadn't even seen the original until I watched this clip. Didn't care for the original but The Roots and the rest of the crew made me want to sing along. Enjoy your moment in the sun Rebecca Black! Friday...Friday...Fun Fun

Wow! It's amazing what an awesome band can do with a bad song. Kudos to Jimmy, Colbert & Taylor for great rendition of a song that usually makes my teeth hurth.

I was really looking forward to this but it was really was just lame. Unfunny and l;ame. Colbert can't sing to save his life...he's so bad it wasn't funny, just embarrassing. It got downright pathetic when Colbert couldn't get the words right. Really? The most moronically simplistic song in history and Colbert couldn't remember the words? This is one of those things that sound hilarious...in theory. In practice, not so much.

Can we ban the original and put this version in it's place?

I love how Stephen Colbert will do almost anything for a good cause! He's truly awesome!

And The Roots I swear can make anything sound great!

Awesome, really awesome. Colbert does not disappoint. I'm also a big Taylor Hicks fan so it was even better than I expected.

Then again... I'd like to understand the hate for this Rebecca Black. A white kid with an annoying voice which needs to be heavily auto-tuned sings some bland generic pop song with terribly stupid lyrics; when it's Miley Cyrus, it's OK, when it's Rebecca Black, it's not, somehow?

Who said that it's OK when Miley Cyrus does it?

Really dislike the original, but this is pretty awesome! It actually has build up (amazing, Colbert!) and has a catchy chorus that is not ruined by bad singing. It does help that they brought Taylor Hicks, the best entertainer from "American Idol", to join them.

They've turned such a terrible song into something on the same level as "I gotta feeling" by the Black Eyed Peas, both being meaningless catchy songs.

As a 'woman of a certain age', I'm not familiar with this song. But I would like to say that in spite of all the talent performing it here, it's still a pretty bad song (which is the point, I know). But, I can only imagine how horrible the original is. Don't think I'll be looking it up on itunes.

But, God, I love Colbert and I'd have a crush on him if it weren't creepy for me do so at my age.
