Obama Cabinet

Christian Science Monitor:

As war rages on several fronts and much of the Middle East and northern Africa is in turmoil, the most popular figure in the Obama administration is Hillary Clinton - an activist Secretary of State who seems to be all over the world, participating in if not directing every aspect of US foreign and military policy.

Secretary Clinton has been a chief spokesman for President Obama's position on Egypt and Libya as well as a behind-the-scenes force in getting the United States to lead a coalition of nations providing the bombs and missiles necessary to keep the Libyan rebels from being overwhelmed by the forces of Muammar Qaddafi.

I think Hillary has found her true calling.  She seems at home no matter where she goes and there is something in her demeanor that seems to inspire trust.  Yet, she does not hesitate to make the hard calls and to discipline the ranks when necessary.

I'm thinking that the presidency would not have allowed her to shine so spectacularly.  The flaming egos of American politicians would  Read More...

What do you mean "now"? She always was the most popular and her handling of all the Mid-East strife has added to her allure. She has done a terrific job. Hope she stays a part of the administration somehow in 2012.

Of course due to the increasing international events that are happening on a daily basis, HRC has to be very prominent figure as her post is at the forefront to deal with what is happening.

I made a small contribution to Obama's campaign. A few days after he declared his candidacy, the phone rang and I saw University of Chicago on the caller ID and got excited. Upon reflection, I decided to vote for HRC in the primary and supported her until Obama won the nomination. I volunteered for Obama's campaign and did some phone-banking.

HRC had more experience in politics and infinitely more experience in business (she served on the board of directors of a major corporation and her father built his own successful manufacturing company). HRC is the president we should have had. That being said, I still support BHO, as he is our President and has accomplished several goals in his first 2 years. The version of health care reform that we got did more for the insurers than it did for consumers, however, they cannot exclude patients due to pre-existing conditions. No, it's not the path to single-payer or a public option.

I will support BHO.

No surprise here, she has demonstrated time and time again the ability to take on a tough position and shine by dint of hard work and dogged determinism. While I supported her when she ran for the Democratic nomination for president I was on the whole unimpressed by the selection of people she surrounded herself with, but do believe that she would have been a mush stauncher supporter of progressive values. Water under the bridge, anyway kudos to her and a big thank you.

In full support of your message: I think Hillary has done an absolutely brilliant job as Sec'y of State. She has put her vast knowledge, supreme investments of energy, and the dedic-ation of a true believer. She has forced fruitful conversations with very diverse groups, surrounded herself with reliable associates, and has brightened the future of our country in the eyes of the rest of the world.

There's no contest, in my mind, who should be the most "UN-popular" member of the Obama administration: Secretary of the Treasury, Timothy Geithner.
=Second only to the president who appointed him, Geithner has been Wall Street's most loyal servant in Washington. It was Geithner and his staff who, working closely with the Democratic
congressional leadership, made sure the financial "reform" law did nothing to endanger the continued freebooting of the investment banks; who allowed the banks to turn the mortgage "rescue" program (HAMP) into yet another scam to rip off, foreclose and evict homeowners; and, who remains the staunchest opponent (again, perhaps only second to President Obama) of appointing Elizabeth Warren to head the new Consumer Financial Protection Agency.
=Worst of all, I think Geithner is more responsible for the president's decision not to pursue criminal indictments against any of the investment bankers, hedge fund managers, credit-rating agency executives, mortgage processors, or any of the others in the rogue's gallery responsible for the present economic crisis.
=Based on the above, of course, Geithner will keep his job as long as he wants to.

I'm thinking that the presidency would not have allowed her to shine so spectacularly.  The flaming egos of American politicians would have neutralized the amazing effectiveness (affectiveness?) she is able to show us on a world wide stage.

Go Hillary!
