Kirstie Alley Falls On 'Dancing With the Stars' During Rumba (VIDEO)

LOS ANGELES - Kirstie Alley and "Dancing with the Stars" partner Maksim Chmerkovskiy (MAKS'-ihm shmehr-KAWF'-skee) have taken a tumble in the ballroom during the live performance show.

Just seconds into their rumba routine to "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" on Monday, Chmerkovskiy fell to the floor, taking the 60-year-old actress down with him.

A limping, apologetic Chmerkovskiy later told the judges that his thigh "just gave out."

After a few moments the pair recovered and went on to earn the praise of the judges and a score of 21 - one point higher than their score for last week's quickstep.

Judge Carrie Ann Inaba says, "Sometimes tragedy leads to amazingly beautiful moments."

I'm not one of HP's moderators, which you'd know if you read what those badges mean.
I've watched Kirsty Alley bob up and down the 'talent meter' for years. Her reliance on Scientology for excuses and her attempts to use her weight problems as a pity vehicle don't leave much choice when it comes to judging her.
I'm not ashamed of speaking my mind about my opinions of her. Celebrities open themselves to criticism of all kinds when they climb up and then depend on the public opinion polls.
And before you even ask, yes, I've battled weight issues too. It's hard to be a teen gymnast, then age about 35 years and have spinal problems that warp your body and prevent meaningful exercise. But as far as I've ever heard, she's not in the same boat at all.

"The show must go on!" and the two of them PROVED what troopers they are! It was a wonderful dance routine despite the mishap. HIS training and Kirstie's feistyness got them through it beautifully!

size has nothing to do with dancing ability.  he was a bit overextended and lost his center of gravity. it could have happened with a thinner partner.

True. I once had a dancing instructor who was Kirstie's size and she had amazing dancing ability. And I can believe that Maks had a cramp in his leg. I've gotten those just dancing by myself!

Kirstie must one of the happiest women in Hollywood. She doesn't have to act anymore professionally, she makes a ton of money being a celebrity and doing weight-loss product endorsements and ads, and she gets to eat whatever she wants. She has broken through the Hollywood "wall" for female performers to keep them starved and under control. She can look any size and she has made it a part of her career and thus a money-maker for her. Look at all the starving starlets who would love to just let it all hang out but can't for fear. But Kirstie is unafraid. She told the establishment what they can do and she's still successful.

I must say, they turn it around quite nicely. I give them both much credit for staying cool and on routine. She moves well, to be such a big girl. And she's very likable...I hope she can drop the extra weight and keep it off. I also give her credit for going on the show at her size...That takes courage...
