Sweden's Queen Silvia Injured While Dodging New York Paparazzi

STOCKHOLM -- Sweden's Queen Silvia has injured her foot and wrist while dodging a persistent photographer who tried to take snapshots of her and Princess Madeleine in New York.

A statement from the Royal Court says the 67-year-old queen was in the city shopping with her youngest daughter Monday when a Swedish photographer tried to take their pictures.

The Wednesday statement says the queen tried to use a side door to get out of the shop, after the photographer was standing at the shop's main entrance. On her way to a parked car, queen fell "injuring both her foot and wrist."

Silvia is married to King Carl XVI Gustaf of Sweden. They have two daughters and one son.

Hope the rest of their visit to USA gets better. I'd bet they could move about with complete anonymity and freedom most places over here. Who would've thought there were Swedish paparazzi stalking her, and why?

Within a few years from now the Mamarazzi and Paparazzi will be invisible because better auxiliary gadgets for their cameras will enable them to take close-up pictures without arousing the suspicious of people that pretend that those picture takers are violating their privacy even though most of them are publicity seekers.

I'm glad you qualified your posting by saying " Most" of them are publicity seekers. For those few who are not, this haranguing needs to be stopped and violators punished. At one time in the recent past there was a modicum of respect for privacy of an individual. Nowadays it seems that anyone with a device that can capture an image deems it his/her right to get in someones face and take an image which they later go on to sell for a profit.
I would be extremely pleased to see more of these bottom feeding, money grubbing, photosluts prosecuted and jailed for abusing those few who did not fall within that "Most" category you mention in your missive.

The swedish photog was outside the front door...the queen and her party left by an alternate exit. She tripped and fell...an unfortunate accident. What animalistic behavior was exhibited by the photog...and what laws were needed to protect the queen...laws against the law of gravity? Rant against paparazzi when they do something wrong, not when they don't.
