Gloria James Arrested: LeBron's Mother Booked At Miami Beach Hotel

Gloria James, LeBron James' mother, was arrested Thursday morning at a Miami hotel after she reportedly got into scuffle with a valet.

ABC affiliate WPLG reported that James was charged with misdemeanor assault.

According to RadarOnline, Police said that LeBron's mother was taken into custody "at the posh Fontainebleau resort in Miami Beach around 4:57 a.m. ET."

The case is still under review.

Rockfeller Sorel, the valet parker, reportedly told the police that James smacked him in the face.

In 2006, James was arrested in Akron, Ohio for drunken driving and disorderly conduct.

What a mess. Not only did she assault the valet, she was racist and extremely uncooperative to law enforcement officers.

Whenever an athletes mom is in the news for anything other than seeing her cheering in the stands, it cannot be good.
She was out very late, she was drunk, she acted foolishly.

If someone doesn't have a criminal history going back 20 years, maybe they could be off limits. Having an OVI in 2006 is the least of what she has done. I'm all about someone being able to reform, or doing something stupid, once. But having a rap sheet longer than my arm? Please.

People in Cleveland aren't shocked by this at all. The entire Cavs organization (and the city to an extent) went out of their way to keep Gloria's escapades quiet.

You can take the CW outta the hood but you can't take the hood outta the CW.

Not to be too nitpicky, but people who report and use legal terminology should understand it. She got "arrested" at hotel, not 'BOOKED". You get "booked" at the police station, where they take your fingerprints, etc. Just annoyed.

While my mom did not abuse alcohol, her age, driving record and tendency to pop off at folks when pressed got her into scrapes on several occasions. Fortunately we live in a small town. The cop involved would call us and say "Come talk some sense into your mother" and we would get mom calmed down and take her home. Due to celebrity and the like, Ms James is not afforded that. It's time for Lebron to take away her keys, send her to time-out and get her the help she needs.

Seriously though, I mean nobody should be drunk in public, and they certainly shouldn't abuse a hotel worker...but if this were any person who wasn't related to a professional athlete, it would simply make the court report in Miami newspapers. And just as sarah palin wants her family left out of political rhetoric, shouldn't athletes' families be left out of news when the news would otherwise go unnoticed? The big difference here is that palin shoves her family to the forefront and uses them for political gain; Lebron doesn't do this to his mother. So why are we reading this headline?

It is a pity that the national reported story does not match the local version. All VIP guests at this hotel are escorted to their cars, Gloria was. Only when she got there no one had her keys. She certainly had a right to demand her keys to her car. Please will you all wait to see what happens before you all rush to judgment.

Read the whole police report. The valet had the car waiting, idling for over a half an hour while she chatted curbside. When the keys were removed from the car and given to a second valet, she slapped the first.
