Donald Trump For President? David Plouffe Says There's No Chance He'd 'Ever Be Hired'

Donald Trump For President

First Posted: 04/10/11 11:58 AM ET Updated: 06/10/11 06:12 AM ET

Senior White House adviser David Plouffe weighed in on the presidential ambitions of Donald Trump on ABC's "This Week" on Sunday.

"I saw Donald Trump kind of rising in some polls and given his behavior and spectacle the last couple of weeks, I hope he keeps on rising," said Plouffe. "There is zero chance that Donald Trump would ever be hired by the American people to do this job."

In recent weeks, Trump has captured headlines and sparked controversy by repeatedly raising skepticism over whether President Barack Obama is a citizen of the United States. He has released his own official birth certificate and has called on Obama to do the same despite the fact that the president's birth records have been available online for over three years. Last week, Trump signaled that he has investigators on the ground in Hawaii in search of more details on the president's birthplace.

Plouffe called the actions demonstrated by Trump "sideshow behavior."

"There may be a small part of the country that believes these things, but mainstream Americans think it's a sideshow," he said, adding that voters want political leaders to focus on the economy and pressing policy issues.

Karl Rove and Sen. Marco Rubio (R-Fla.) are two conservatives who have expressed dissatisfaction with the fact that Trump continues to hammer the issue.

Nevertheless, Trump raised doubt over the president's citizenship once again in an interview that aired on CNN's "State of the Union" on Sunday. He called the ordeal "a strange situation" and suggested that it's because of the media that "the word birther is a negative word."

Just another man with so much money it appears he has nothing else to do but stick his nose in the business of people who are suffering. Can we boycott him or something, tired of the negative people who obviously don't know what they are talking about - stop the madness please!

I cannot believe anyone is taking this seriously. Trump is generating publicity for himself. He has no desire to run. People enjoy his personality, but no one takes him seriously as a businessman or a politician.

I am all for Donald Trump, he has my vote and every member of my family and friends!!! If no one has noticed our country is going bankrupt. We are in dire need of a business man to straighten out our mess. Economics 101 people. Where Obama or whatever the man wants to call himself or whatever nationality he wants to claim, he is defiantly no business man; maybe a used car salesperson?

From the AP in 2004: Kenyan-born Obama all set for US Senate

"Kenyan-born US Senate hopeful, Barrack Obama, appeared set to take over the Illinois Senate seat after his main rival, Jack Ryan, dropped out of the race on Friday night amid a furor over lurid sex club allegations.

The allegations that horrified fellow Republicans and caused his once-promising candidacy to implode in four short days have given Obama a clear lead as Republicans struggled to fetch an alternative."

Was the AP lying then or are they lying now?
Was Obama's grandmother lying then or is she lying now?
Was Governor Abercrombie lying then of is he lying now?
Was George Stephanopolous lying then or is he lying now?
Was the President of Kenya lying?

""Because of his roots here in Kenya, as a country we are full of pride for his success. I therefore wish to announce that tomorrow, Thursday the sixth of November the year 2008 be observed as a public holiday to enable all Kenyans to celebrate this historic achievement for President-elect Obama," said President Kibaki."

Who cares? What will it change- he's president, get over it. How many times, and how many people have to refute this before you wrap your infantile, racially-motivated brain around it: The Birth certificate is real. He's our president. And yep, he's black.
Now move on.

Sure getting a lot of publicity in the last week or so. Even BFF Palin is supporting that guy.

Nothing like an uninformed voter who's easily distracted. Name one policy Trump would be good on. Don't say "economy" until you've seen his business record.

Trump has made an issue of a non-issue to prevent any legitimate political questions that he has no answers to so instead of showing how ignorant he really is about the foreign policy, he is creating this hoopla or a sideshow as they said using it as a smokescreen!

but seriously, this man is not presidential...on tv reality show no less!

I'm just waiting for the national audience to turn on the Donald, like it has on Charlie Sheen. That should be fun.

War in Libya?
"YOU'RE FIRED!"
Tanking economy?
"YOU'RE FIRED!"
Failing infrastructure?
"YOU'RE FIRED!"

Who needs policy when you have catchphrases?

TRUMP/TRUMP 2012 - the dude's so damn good, he can do both jobs.

Trump loves the photo run with this piece...he likes to think he can imitate the tough-guy thousand-yard stare.

He can barely master the shifty-eyed 10 ft. glance.

Weasels are notoriously near-sighted.

The “thousand yard stare†expression comes from Viet Nam Vets who had to be hyper-vigilante all day with adrenaline coursing through their veins just to stay alive. After a while it was less painful just to consider yourself dead. The result was a lifeless look. Vets from Iraq and Afghanistan have suffered the same fate. Did Trump serve?

Know what it means. Been there, done that in Nam. And the only thing Trump served was his boundless ego.

Factcheck.org has gone through the recent claims by Trump regarding Obama's birth; here's the link:

http://factcheck.org/2011/04/donald-youre-fired/

It's worth a look if you actually have questions regarding Trump's claims. If you have other questions regarding Obama's citizenship, you can also check factcheck.org, because they will probably have an assessment of those, too.

Thank you for the link ... I saw Meredith Viera's interview with Donald Trump last week. I could not believe that Ms. Viera did not have any of the "factcheck" data available during the interview so that Mr. Trump could verify his birther claims. Boy, do I miss Katie Couric!!!!!!!!

They don't wanna alienate the Donald. If it bleeds it leads, and Trump, he's a bloody clown.

Currently, love him or hate him, the Donald is a media darling.

You're welcome. I didn't see the interview, but she's between a rock and a hard place responding to him; he's snapping at everyone, and since he has a show at NBC, that couldn't have helped matters. Journalism should have come first, though.

i dont question if he was born a US citizen- i only wonder why they report he is not able to get a copy of the birth certificate that his mother signed? i have never known anyone that is not able to get a copy if they request it vs the digested version that is posted on line. do you know?

I read somewhere else that a lot of hospitals, after a certain amount of time, and we're talking about almost 50 years now, will get rid of those records. It could be a number of factors, so I would not know. Maybe it was destroyed accidentally, or just lost. Or maybe in Hawaii, they only issue the cute foot one, like I got, so that the parents have it until the official one. A lot of guesses, but no real answer for you. Sorry about that.

Trump against Obama would be - in transpersonal terms - like watching the unfettered ego challenging the spiritual essence. Guess which one wins every time when they go head to head?
