'Thor' Preview: Stars Natalie Portman, Chris Hemsworth Talk Film, Amazing Set

First Posted: 04/11/11 04:40 PM ET Updated: 06/11/11 06:12 AM ET

It's a long way from Asgard to Earth. Thor has made the trip, and he's none too happy about it.

Chris Hemsworth and Natalie Portman feature in a brand new featurette about their upcoming Marvel Comics-based film, "Thor." The pair discuss the gorgeous set and breathtaking computer animation used to create opposing worlds: one an advanced, heavenly city, the other a raw, desert town.

The movie's production team created both worlds entirely from scratch, to stunning results. "Thor" hits theaters May 6th.

Be Careful Natalie, After Fish, Eggs are the food which contain the most toxins. Because Chickens are fed a diet which contains large amounts of fish meal the same toxic chemicals show up in eggs as are in the fish. Dioxin, PCB's, Mercury, and hundreds or possibly thousands of different pharmasutical's and pesticides. Natalie are you sure you want to put that stuff into your babies body?http://bit.ly/lUGHbe

So, our national infrastructure crumbles, and these idiots are building an entire village for a stupid comic book movie.

sigh.

Um, I hope you do realize that most of those "buildings" are just fronts with no backs. Just sayin.'

I don't dislike Natalie Portman but could the HuffPo go a day without at least 2 stories about her? Just sayin.

Sigh. I was so looking forward to Thor. It looks childish and unrealistic. I was wondering why the hell they couldn't use an existing town, but then came the explosives. That actor does not make a good Thor, and a love story, REALLY? Did all the directors in hollywood sign a pact with the devil or something? gazillions of dollars for sets in return for cheesy love dramas

You have obviously never been a Thor fan. The original Marvel Thor was designed around Thor's love for the mortal Jane Foster.

ANOTHER!!! When did this girl sleep for the last few years?

No kidding, and she recently had a baby. This movie will make a lot of money for her and her newborn.

I'm a DC guy, but I'm really looking forward to Thor. It looks like fun, and if it's half as good as JMS' run on the book, it will be amazing.

Epic? Gorgeous? Looks like another disposable second tier superhero movie to me.

Portman has replaced Paltrow as the annoying celebrity obsession on HP

And thank God for that! Natalie is gorgeous, talented and not one bit annoying.

I love Natalie Portman - leveraging the adoration of millions of loser geeks so she can have her baby in style and maybe take a few years off.

I agree, but she should slip in more Black Swans in between the Your Highnesses and Thors

WOW.....They built a whole town for the rubes? The amount of money wasted on Hollywood junk always amazes me, but to imagine people paying money for the garbage is glorious. They no longer know how dumbed down they are, and of course BABY BUMP PORTMAN is there to exploit it.

Yawn. Get over it. Your far too emotional for something that has zero effect on your life or the lives of anyone you know.
10:53 AM on 04/12/2011
The more mediocrity is tolerated, the more you get. You want to be treated like an idiot? Not calling it out to me is the same as giving up the country to frauds and lunatics. Try some critical thinking.

All the resources they must have wasted and the huge environmental footprint this trivial little movie will leave behind bothered me too. But I see their point if they need something they can blow up. It is certainly no laughing matter though. You might get a little emotional when your city falls to rising sea levels.

How is it "wasted?"

If Thor fails, sure. But I don't think that's going to happen. If the production budget for a film is $200 million, and the film brings in $800 million, that's not wasted money.

Dude. Settle down.

I like her work when she was just starting out in movies. Lately she seems to be all about the money. A movie titled Thor? Really? And it's not going to be just another popcorn-flick aimed at the teenage crowd, and a quick pay day, with no lasting worth or interest?

I'm guessing you never read JMS' run on Thor?

It's effin' unbelievable.
