I am glad she is getting help, though she can't have a serious form of the illness if she was in the hospital for such a short period and then wants to go back to work and is able to work. She has to be on the manic side most of the time which makes her productive. If she was more on the depressed side or mixed state then she would most likely have not been successful or would have suicide attempts in her past. Glad she doesn't suffer as much as other people have and has a life to reclaim. She will do fine, I have a couple of friends who suffer this type of mental illness and they always bounce back quick because of the manic tendencies. By the way I suffer from MI as well, except the unproductive and anxious kind. Take care Katherine.

Whats this, some publicity stunt? Mad people NEVER know they are mad,so she would not have been able to check herself in a mental clinic. Either that or theres nothing wrong with her but for the little bit of media coverage she would generate by making this claim.

That's what i always feared, falling in love with a beautiful girl that was spooky.

I don't know why this has to news of any sort.

Much ado about nothing. Her husband has been ill, which is stressful. This is not some mental illness. People without the means go through this kind of pain all the time. I'm feeling a little down myself right now. I wish I could check into a spa for "mental illness" myself, but I got to go to work and pay the bills. In Farmville, where I live, we call this life's little ups and downs.

Everyone has its own problems. This is so stupid to say "well, here, we call it life". The fact that someone has a worst situation doesn't forbid you to have your own problems and be miserable about them. Would you say to someone who has lost one of his arms "Well, be happy, some have lost both" !

She didn't just have a little problem. It said she was bipolar.
09:54 AM on 04/14/2011
Yeah, that's what it said. Variance in moods is normal, especially with a gravely ill spouse. It doesn't mean it's a mental disorder. It seems to be much in vogue these days to claim to have a mental disorder. I could claim, or my publicist could, if I had one, to be a genius and good looking. That wouldn't necessarily make it so.

It should be news when they exit such places, not enter them...

This lady is still beautiful and will be for a long time. Leave her alone and let her fight her illness. Good luck Z.

Someone should do something about all the problems

Good for her to seek treatment. Too bad there isn't a "flag" button for this entire article; it is shameful to publicize a person's woes.

Let's hope so, it would be a lot more expected from the tabloids featuring front page articles about Elvis's extraterrestrial children than a legitimate news publication as HuffPo is supposed to be.

Very smart to seek treatment. Being a caregiver is exhausting, mentally and physically.

What did Douglas do to her? Aw, poor baby. I knew it was just a matter of time.

read and help if you can...

He might be the 'bi' in bipolar...

Catherine, It seems to me what you are feeling is actually normal. You have a sick husband, pressure from the ex-wife etc. and anyone would be depressed in those circumstances ... you'd be mad NOT to be. Don't be too keen to fall for the increasing habits of others who are keen to stick a label on you.
Be sad because I think you are entitled to be. Take care and I wish you and your husband well.

Love to see a know it all giving psychological advice about something she knows nothing about...unless of course you've spoken directly with Zeta J herself.

Get better, Catherine.

Manic Depressiveness is a very difficult thing to live with.

But good treatment options exist.

Peace to you and yours.
