LOS ANGELES -- Dodger Stadium is expected to be flooded in blue when Los Angeles hosts the St. Louis Cardinals, and it won't be just the fans and the players wearing the team's traditional colors.
With a new zero-tolerance policy on hooliganism after a San Francisco Giants fan was nearly beaten to death in the parking lot on opening day, the team has promised to staff the stadium and parking lot with numerous police officers starting Thursday night.
A team spokesman says brawls and intimidating insults directed at anyone wearing a rival team's jersey must stop. That behavior has become commonplace at Dodgers games in recent years.
The Dodgers have also dropped plans to sell half-price alcohol at six home games this season.
