Obama Talks Chicago Roots, Jokes About Rahm's 'Creepy' Finger In Chicago (VIDEO)

President Obama received a warm welcome in Chicago Thursday, where he addressed supporters at three fundraisers around the city.

First, the president spoke at N9NE Steakhouse, where about 150 donors paid $5,000 and $10,000 a plate. Mayor Richard M. Daley and Mayor-elect Rahm Emanuel also attended the event.

"Yes, he is foul-mouthed. Yes, that finger thing is a little creepy. But I love him anyway," Obama said of Emanuel, according to NBC Chicago. "And Chicago, you did the right thing by electing him the next mayor of Chicago."

After N9NE, Obama headed to MK where donor shelled out a whopping a $35,800-per-person to dine with the president. (Check out the impressive menu here.)

A crowd of more than 2,300 assembled at Chicago's Navy Pier Thursday night, where Obama was joined by Rahm Emanuel, Mayor Daley, Derrick Rose, Ernie Banks, B.J. Armstrong, Colbie Caillat, Joakim Noah and many others. He talked about the Bulls, his trouble finding parking at Navy Pier in the past, and of course, the future. The president, however, scrapped his "winning the future" mantra for the one that echoed in Grant Park during his 2008 victory speech: "Yes we can."

"Whenever you hear people say our problems are too big to solve, or we can't bring about the changes we seek, I want you to think about all the progress we've made," he said. (Scroll down for video) "I want you to think about all the unfinished business that lies ahead. I want you to be excited about the future that lies before us. And I want you to remind you, and I want you to remind everybody else of those simple words that summed up what we believe as a people: Yes We Can."

After describing his deep roots in the city, Obama joked about the "birther" issue that won't seem to go away.

"I wasn't born here," he said. Then the president paused and chuckled as the crowd at Navy Pier broke into knowing laughter. "Just want to be clear - I was born in Hawaii."

As members of the crowd shouted compliments to the president, he made several references to the love and support he has received from Chicagoans, and spoke about his decision to base his 2012 campaign here.

"Now, this is the first time in modern history that a sitting President has based their reelection campaign outside of Washington," he said. "But I decided I don't want our campaign to be just hearing all the pundits and the powerbrokers. I want our campaign to be here because you guys are the ones who got me started. I see people in this audience who supported me when nobody could pronounce my name. I see folks who supported me when I ran for Congress and got a beatdown -- and then helped to nurse me back to health."

Obama reportedly returned to his Hyde Park home about 10:20 p.m., and is expected to depart from O'Hare Airport back to Washington just before noon. His visit raised an estimated $2 million for his reelection campaign, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

It would seem that the basic difference betwee the Democrats and Republicans is that Democrats continue to believe that our nation has not yet reached the peak and Yes, We Can continue to progress into a brave new world the future and its challenges bring.  On the other hand, the Republicans comfort zone is somewhere in the past, an age that we have long move out of and away from.  Americans have  Read More...

I was at Navy Pier with my daughter and sister and Pres. Obama was so relaxed and confident. It's so good to hear him not sweat the small stuff Trump and company throws at him. He could say so much about the likes of Trump, Palin, Huckabee, Gingrich... and instead he choses to joke about himself. What a classy guy.

There is a huge difference between Pres. Obama and the GOP candidates, he doesn't waste his time attacking their character, religion or morals, during his campaign speeches and all any of them can do is attack him with the same lies and innuendos over and over ad nauseum. Only children or closed minded bigots love their type.

It's so good to see him standing above the pettiness of the likes of Trump and Palin.

"O" gets me so mad at times when he rolls over and doesn't stand up to the GOP.
I think now that he's getting tough for his re-election and once he wins without an other election to worry about then hopefully we will see more of his fighting side.
Really Mad at times, but LOVE the POTUS !

The idiocy of the 'Birthers' undoubtedly has many in the world believing a significant number of Americans must have, at one time, bred with vegetables. It's good to see our bright, articulate president still has a sense of humor about this.

Isn't it nice to see two Chicago guys just hamming it up. Where are Tony Resko, Rashidi Kalidi, William Ayers, Bernadine Dohrn or even his paster for twenty years, Rev. Wright. I'm sure they would share in the fun.

The biggest blunders we can make is believe we are out of the depression and start deep cuts like Ryan’s proposals. We believe 2008 is just starting since the past 3 years have been digging our way out. When we are fully out, we stabilize and drive ahead. Democrats, we have got work to do. We must crush Republicans in every single State. For Republicans to truly eliminate grandma and grandpa is very very sad. Any American with a conscience should say no. Say no with your votes … Because as you have seen elections matter. 2010 taught us a lesson.

You are so right...I find it ironic that so many in the country have been convinced that the republicans will lead us back in to the promise land...and if we just give up our medicare, safe food and environment heal our selves and most importantly take away those silly regulations that the democrats put on Wall Street and cut even more taxes for the wealthy so they came trickle down all that wealth to us...another words..just because these policies didn't work before we still want to do the same thing again..Any one who has forgotten what got us into this mess in the first place and votes these ignorant corporate loving heartless brain dead republicans back in to office needs some serious therapy..The only reason any sane middle class person would vote against their own self interest is ignorance, hate, and bigotry trump rational thinking and common sense,,and the right is counting on this to get them elected in 2012..thus all the birther talk and anti immigration laws taking place around the country..Keep them scared so they don't actually think..

What I find even more telling was his response to George Stephanopoulos when addressing the 'birther' question. His statement was [I think that most people are pretty confident that their president was born in the United States.]
He NEVER states on camera that he was in fact born in Hawaii and is eligible to be President. He is VERY careful, not to get caught on film actually saying those words.
Always deflecting the actual question to some canned response and has never answered the straight yes or no question, "Are you legally eligible to hold the office of POTUS according to the Constitution of the United States"?

Fine Kappernikkis,... find ONE video clip or any quote where he actually says the words. You can't, because it doesn't exist any more than a signature from a doctor in Hawaii.
How 'bout that hospital? Have they actually settled on which one it supposedly was?
