Baby Survives Tornado In Raleigh (VIDEO)

Three-month-old Ayden was ripped from his cousin's arms by a tornado and tossed several feet away. All hope seemed lost, but the baby survived.

Jonathan Robinson says he was holding his cousin tightly, inside a mobile home, but that was no match for the strength of the tornado in Raleigh, North Carolina, the local ABC affiliate reported.

"I thought he was lost," Robinson said, until he found the baby unconscious nearby, atop a pile of wood.

Three children were killed in the Raleigh tornado -- ages 3, 8 and 9 -- and one was seriously injured, per ABC. Baby Ayden was reportedly not hurt.

Ayden's story tops this list of survival stories from Fox News following the deadly storm on Saturday.

It isn't the first time something like this has happened. In Oct. 2007, a "miracle" baby survived a 40 to 50-foot toss by a tornado in Michigan.

Wow, I'm happy that the baby survived that.

Yep, that qualifies as a miracle!! :-)

Watch the religious scramble to use this fortunate set of circumstances to prove the existence of God. The real "miracle" is this baby getting the health care, education and employment it needs to make it in this world...but that's just not as exciting as a tornado surviving baby.

I am glad the baby was spared.
05:03 PM on 04/18/2011
Wow, talk about an offensive article, I have no clue why religious people are so clueless when it comes to things like this.

So the baby that survived was the miracle case huh? Does that mean the babies who didn't survive just weren't good enough in the eyes of God to merit rescue? Or perhaps you're suggesting that those children were murdered by God?

Think about the families of those who died for once, instead of just the families of those victims who did survive before spouting this rubbish.

Where did it say Gawd? It said it was a "miracle", meaning something you wouldn't expect. It said nothing about divine intervention.
05:42 PM on 04/18/2011
Miracles typically and originally suggest divine intervention. A suspension of natural phenomena.

There's quite a bit of coverage of the death toll. People like hearing about something good when it happens in the midst of a tragic event. Are we not allowed to celebrate life and luck as we mourn those who have passed? Seriously, where is this anger coming from?
05:50 PM on 04/18/2011
Again, by all means celebrate life, but suggesting the baby was saved by a miracle is offensive to those who lost loved ones.

Yhere are somethings that defy explaination. This is one of them.
05:07 PM on 04/18/2011
I like how people conveniently ignore those who weren't lucky enough to survive, and latch onto the ones that did as some sort of miracle. Implying that those who didn't survive didn't merit God's love.

Talk about callous.

Where did Catch 22 say that? So, people can't celebrate the living?

I never used the word miracle. I was using logic. If a tornado demoloshis a trailer home, it is reasonable to expect that people will die. What is not expected, is that a three month old baby will be torn from his cousin's arms, fly through the air, in 100 plus mph winds and survive. You will have to deal with the issues that you have.

You do not stay in a mobile home if there is even a chance of a tornado. I grew up in Tornado alley and these things are no joke and the death toll could have been worse. I'm glad so many made it out alive and hope for baby ayden to have many happy years!

So many miracles amidst all this destruction. It is very scary to witness storms such as these, destroying property within feet of your home, and leaving others standing. I think he is wise to get a home, and make sure he has a room designated for tornado protection, although nothing protects you for sure.
03:20 PM on 04/18/2011
Miracles? Tell that to the 44 who died. Why didn't they get a "miracle"?
03:32 PM on 04/18/2011
I agree. I mean, I do believe things happen for a reason in some respect, but its unfair to say one person is blessed and there was a miracle when there are many others whose loved ones were lost. Were they not "good" enough? Did their family not pray correctly? Its sad when people die, and I am glad this baby survived. End of story.

I live in NC, a farm was completely wiped out, less than a half mile from here, eight homes torn apart, silo knocked down, barn roofs ripped off, hundreds of cattle, and yet no one was harmed. Yes that is sad 44 died, but the real miracle is so many more didn't.
