When the family-run business was founded in 1925 by Austrian immigrant Aron Streit, Prohibition reigned and the area was home to a bustling Jewish community. Lines of people waiting for fresh matzo snaked around the block.

Matzo tastes best cooked into something. As a solo cracker it is reminiscent of dessicated linoleum tiles.
