And I thought that closing the doors of a library due to lack of funding was the saddest news. But this...

I live about 45 mins away from this town, I see the FLDS in my town shopping. I can tell you that this book burning is a hate crime, its about control of information and fear on the part of the leaders of the FLDS community, thats how they operate.

Do you know that a foreigner who practices polygamy cannot be allowed to enter the U.S. with his wives? Why then is polygamy being practiced in the United States but the polygamists are not being prosecuted? This goes back to what I have pointed out numerous times on this post. The United States government, at all levels, has been carved up by members of the majority by religion and ethnicity. So, each group is protecting their criminals!

The leaders  of  "the community" are very afraid that they will lose control and power if the women read anything enlgihtening.  It is a sad commentary on their lives.  I do remember when it was okay to take a book off the shelf in Utah and burn it...because the locals didn't agree with the subject matter.  I found that to be a stunning revalation of their fear of truths.  It was hard to find that book but someone always had a copy tucked away somewhere.

I recall reading once that any society that burns books will eventually burn people. There is probably a lot of history backing that assertion. I think it is true. There is always hate behind acts such as these, the burning of books in particular.

You can take a fundie to a library book but you can't make them think. (Apologies to D. Parker)
