Sony Ends PSPgo Handheld Production

With a high price and download-only game requirement, the PSPgo handheld fought an uphill battle against its cheaper PSP-3000 cousin -- and its budget-priced rival, Nintendo DS Lite -- for two years before Sony officially shut down production on April 20.

Sad about the 'Flip' video camera. Inexpensive, expandable (took 'sim' cards) and a well made and inexpensive device. I would prefer to have pictures and videos from a 'Flip' v.s. a cell phone!

It is interesting to see such a change within a short time. However with technology moving faster and faster it is not surprising the decisions to pull the plug on these tools to make way for the next round. Personally,I was just able to purchase a Flip Cam which was the last one on the shelf.

According to insiders Cisco simply doesn't know how to manage a low margin product like the Flip so they're bailing out.

I never got around to buying one but the Flip Camcorder always seemed like a good idea.

No wonder my locals stores have empty stands where the Flips are supposed to be.

Isn't the new Sony phone replacing the PSP?

They aren't stopping PSP production. They are ending production of the PSP-Go, a handheld that would only play games you downloaded from PSN, not the UMD discs like the normal PSP. A new PSP replacement is coming at the end of the year called the NGP, the Xperia Play (PSP phone) is something separate.
