Geez. It's as if there's only one troll using multiple usernames on these budget articles. Every one of them goes ballistic with denial, when they're accused of supporting corporate welfare, defending corporate welfare, advocating for corporate welfare. Now, how can one be anti-social welfare, but not for corporate welfare? I hope the corporate boss that shells out for this/these trolls raises the standards, even a little bit.

His body language says it all. Self entitled delusional conviction. Had the truth be a wet fish slapping him in the face it still won't make the slightest difference.

Milton is just down Interstate 90 from Madison and has local colleges of its own. During Badger games, the overflow crowds fill motels in nearby Janesville. These people are not ill educated.

Salon has a story about how tepid the "anger" at town hall meetings directed at Ryan budget supporters has been (sorry, you'll have to get the link yourself). Seems the dems had to follow Ryan around for four days and many meetings before they got this one rather mild video. Nothing like the outraged meetings over Obamacare that went viral. Liberals will just have to keep hoping for the outrage to materialize, because it hasn't yet.

Sure. Since the Wisconsin demonstrators didn't burn down the capital, they didn't assemble at all.

You do know, Ryan was addressing his own constituency? They called themselves Conservatives and may have chuckled even as they booed him, but they did know what called for the boos.

Ryan is a shill for big corporations. His argument is false, while small business do generate the most jobs, the vast majority of the woners do not make over $250,000 annually. So the tax cuts extended for the rich has little to do with small businesses. It has to do with big businesses, the super rich, and continuing the myth that when the rich get richer it trickles down to create jobs and distributes wealth to the less affluent. That has proven to be totally false for 30 years now.
02:52 PM on 04/22/2011
There are thousands of small businesses and millions of employees in these businesses and most of the business gross income is in the 250K to 2 Million per year. They then adjust their gross and pay taxes as personal income. What we want is for them to re-invest and expand their business and hire people which then reduces their "taxable" income and that is how they create jobs. So keeping their rates down will in encourage them to expand and hire. There is a tax rate breakpoint where this strategy is not as effective and that rate can be higher where it is no longer a small business issue. Maybe anyone making over 2Million should pay higher taxes, and by the way, this may happen if the cuts in the excessive government spending is agreed upon.

How did this get past the HP screeners??
02:52 PM on 04/23/2011
Are you suggesting that small businesses are holding out on applying to the banks for expansion loans, and that's why we're in Depression level economics out here in Main Street? You really are silly. And, shame on you for defending corporate welfare programs at the expense of social welfare programs.

When Warren Buffet calls for more taxes for the wealthy, his class envy must be very specialized.
05:09 PM on 04/22/2011
It is "specialized" - Buffet makes about 100x what Obama is calling wealthy.

This is how it's done Ryan:

Michael Ignatieff speaks directly to Canadians in a TV special
about the Liberal plan to defend health care and strengthen families

OTTAWA – This Sunday, as families gather for the holidays, television networks across Canada will air a 30-minute, up-close-and-personal TV special about Liberal Party’s plan to strengthen families and defend Canada’s health care system.

“Michael Ignatieff’s Town Hall for Canada” will feature candid interviews with Mr. Ignatieff, and exclusive footage of him on the campaign trail in this election as he brings his message of hope to Canadians.

This half-hour English-language TV special will run on Global and CITY TV across Canada on Sunday afternoon – the same day that 1.7 million French-speaking Canadians will see Mr. Ignatieff on “Tout le monde en parle.”
“Michael Ignatieff’s Town Hall for Canada” will share his message of hope and his commitment to equal opportunity for all Canadians.

“Michael Ignatieff’s Town Hall for Canada” will make the case directly to Canadians why the Liberal Party is the only choice in this election that can protect Canada’s universal public health care system and bring a new level of economic stability to Canadian families through the Liberal Family Pack.

The Liberal Family Pack, at the heart of the Liberal Platform, will help families right away with the cost of child care, post-secondary education, family care, saving for retirement and energy-efficient home improvements.

I'm happy to see this. The people in this district are waking up. The Dem party in this state needs to get its act together. Ryan is (over)ripe. There has to be at least one strong candidate to oppose him.
