Chris Colfer's life just got a whole lot more Gleeful.

The Golden Globe-winning "Glee" star has been hired by the Disney Channel to write a pilot for a children's show called "The Little Leftover Witch," based on a book by Florence Laughlin. It's actually his second new writing job; he'll write and star in "Struck By Lightning," a coming-of-age indie comedy.

It'll continue to be a busy year for Colfer. His "Glee" star Kurt Hummel has taken center stage this season, transferring to a private school and starting a relationship with Blaine, played by Darren Criss. He'll also perform with the cast of "Glee" this summer in their nationwide tour.

Whew! For a minute there I thought they were going to do a spin-off of his character. That, imo, would be a mistake. Love him on the show and I'm very happy that his talent for writing is being exposed, but keep him on Glee.

I would love to see some kind of spin off for the Burt Hummel character. IMO the best TV dad in history!

It's over the top camp but I have watched Glee from the beginning and loved it - even though it makes me cringe at times. The show has dealt with subject relevant to the lives of teen-agers and these kids have given stellar, moving performances. Their success is gratifying and I wish them much more. Plus, all the young talented singer out there need options other than Gaga, Rhianna and all the rest of the mess to aspire to.

Very well put- I am also glad to see that Colfer is succeding in many aspects of the entertainment buisness, even though he is very openly gay. F&F

I agree that kids need good role models, but out of curiosity what reason do you imply that Rihanna is a mess?

Ahhhh, the Rhianna question: First and foremost, she has every right to make whatever music she is compelled to create. Having said that, I think that her music and stchitck reveals a disturbed young woman fascinated by things dark, which to her credit discusses candidly in a recent Rolling Stone article. I don't think young girls - or boys for that matter - should think that the demented messages in her videos "Disturbia" or "Roulette" are okay. To my mind, they are not. Personal opinion, of course.

Out Gay- and popular, and making tons of money on network television... Who would have thought???????

I adore him. I'm so glad he's doing well behind the scenes. But I'm selfish in that I want to continue to see him act and sing.

I love you guys, really! Blogging about what you call a mediocre show, while stating that you like what his character means, or who his character is dating - which means you have been following for more than a few episodes - admit it, you love GLEE

I initially hated it and said many negative things about it on this site. I kept watching though, and now watch it every week. Lea Michele does make me cringe, but other than that, it's kind of fun to watch.

Wish you could have seen Lea in Spring Awakening, she was phenomenal. Her GLEE character isn't very flattering, but the girl is beautiful and has awesome talent.

Reading this and the interview with Darren Criss in Vanity Fair, these kids are hard workers and not sitting back on their GLEE laurels.

I love shows like Glee, not only because they are well written and acted, but because I really believe they do a service in bringing truism to teenager's angst. No matter who you are you could probably find something to relate to when you were a teenager and watching these characters overcome their personal trials and tribulations, or just knowing that there are others out there going through the same stuff (even if they are tv characters) goes a long way to helping teens today.

Good luck, Chris, in all of your many activities. I really enjoy 'Glee', especially when it is about the young people minus the 'guest stars'.
