When she didn't show up to class on Monday after telling her parents she was attending a music festival over the weekend, 19-year-old California State University-San Bernardino student Andrea Adame was declared missing. In actuality, she just hitchhiked to Waco, Texas on a series of big rig trucks.
The Desert Sun has more:
"The detective did a fantastic job," Green said. "She was going from truck to truck, so he had a truck driver put out like an APB in the area."
Before police received word that Adame was in the Lone Star State, though, attention had been focused on Indio.
Police said Adame told her parents she planned to attend a music festival during the weekend and authorities believed she attended the Coachella festival.
According to LA Weekly, cops say that Adame used Coachella as an alibi to simply skip out on classes.
Adame was located at a warehouse in Waco, Tex., mentally stable and unharmed. Her family is working to get her back to California.
Her reasons for the impromptu trip remain unknown.
