McDonald's To Bump Prices, While Ads Wax Fifties Nostalgic

First Posted: 04/22/11 02:30 PM ET Updated: 06/22/11 06:12 AM ET

As food costs are expected to rise about four percent in the United States and Europe from last year, McDonald's plans to raise its prices slightly and gradually. In March, the company raised all menu items by one percent, reports Nation's Restaurant News, and plans to "keep taking small, additional menu price increases."

I ate a "Big 'N Tasty" in 2006 and was deathly ill for 3 days! I remember seeing a "mystery purple spot" in the meat!

OMG, Steve, that is so funny and gross at the same time! :) I believe it! Fecal matter in the meat is an inevitable result of factory farming and factory style meat processing plants. Did you read Fast Food Nation or see the film by chance? Both depict this issue quite clearly. Best to you, Steve! :)

McDonald has been putting less and less meat on their burgers and on top they put salt, in their patties, not good anymore and too unhealthy. If I want a burger, I want a patty I can see, not a patty I can only imagine. They can rise their prices, I rather have Wendy's.

Cut portion sizes instead. People need to eat less Mc Donald's food anyway.

Look at the Big Mac, what portion of meat, but a lot of bread, sauce and iceburg letters. Their cheese looks like its made out of rubber and tastes awful.

No more Mickey D's for me!
If I want a burger? I have my Electrobachi at my apartment, some 80/20 ground beef, chopped oinions, a dash of Worchestershire sauce, REAL Dijon mustard (not Grey PouPou!), ketchup, and buns.
Worth waiting for the making and the eating!

And if you have a food processor, chop up your own meat so you know it doesn't have nasty "filler" in it.

The Happy Meal is closer to what everybody ordered at fast food places when I was a kid in the 1960s.
A small burger, small fries, and one small soda.
Portion sizes have gotten ridiculously large.

I rarely eat fast food. I eat what I get at the grocery store. I'm not in a "food desert". I eat 2000 calories/day. I'm hungry right now. Time to eat some real food. 2% milk and some cheddar cheese in my fridge! I've got tomato seedlings that I've just transplanted into larger containers. They are heirlooms. Spring is here and every calorie gained from the garden is one less needed from the store. Gardening may not supply my nutritional needs, but does give me healthy alternatives. It's just the right thing to do. Everyone needs a hobby.

Gardening is a great hobby.
Even if you're disabled you may still be able to enjoy it by working in pots set at table height.
My wife is such a good cook that when we eat out, even at expensive places, it is always a disappointment.
Enjoy those heirloom tomatoes.

Fast food restaurants need to reduce the salt, sugar and fat in the foods they sell.

We have an obesity epidemic in this country.

But, no one is forcing people to eat there.

Unfortunately you're right. It's a combination of irresponsible parents who feed their children way too much of this food to please their kids and don't buy enough healthy food, and people not being informed enough about the risk of a heavily based fast food diet. Obesity has been going up tremendously in the last couple decades, and so has diabetes among young kids. That's a fact, a scary one.

Some people are addicted to salty, sugary, fatty foods and despise healthy foods because they "taste flat." I know, I shifted from soda pop and chips to water and vegetable sticks when I started losing weight. It was the exhilaration of losing weight, not the new taste, that kept me on track.

Ha! Too funny!

Their burgers haven't looked like the one in the photo since the early '70s at most. And in the last twenty-some years you can't even call it "food". It's merely mouth entertainment for dumbed down sheeple.

That clown sure knows how to pull in the suckers though with their shiny bauble /kid brainwashing PR campaigns and movie tie-ins.

Sounds like a great opportunity for McDonald's devotees...to detoxify their systems (specifically, stomachs, fat rolls, livers, gall bladders, kidneys and, finally, brains)...
