Anderson Cooper Remembers Friend Tim Hetherington (VIDEO)

First Posted: 04/23/11 11:08 AM ET Updated: 06/23/11 06:12 AM ET

Anderson Cooper remembered his friend, photographer and director Tim Hetherington, on his Friday show.

Hetherington was killed in Libya on Wednesday, along with fellow photographer Chris Hondros.

Cooper said it was "incredibly hard to believe that Tim is gone." He called Hetherington "the kind of person you felt lucky to be around. He was smart, funny, quick to laugh; even though he had seen things few people can imagine."

The CNN anchor concluded, "Tim is dead. He shouldn't be. I hope he didn't suffer. I hope he didn't feel alone at the end. He died in a far away place; I hope soon he will finally return home."

Very touching, and all the more so coming from another person in the same line of business as these two gentlemen.
We take these reporters for granted, simply depending on their output, and not being concerned for their safety.
I do hope their families and friends find peace in their having known these two men.

Yet another good reason why corporate news like CNN, FOX and the rest should practice real journalism and care about something more than profits----which of course would mean informing people of things like faux WMDs, bubbles and such BEFORE it's too late, BEFORE the the troops are already on their way to a war based upon lies and BEFORE the trillions are in the pipeline to the bank accounts of a few.

A very touching tribute. Few realize how many people put their lives at risk to inform us.

Wow. I didn't know about this photographer or his works. AC's eulogy was great and clearly heartfelt. In Tim's too short life he accomplished a lot more than many others in his profession reach after a long career. Nice to see what real journalism looks like.

Dear Hetherington Family,

By all accounts, Tim was an extraordinary person and had the love and respect of many.
I believe he had those with him when he was taken; he was not alone.

Like our brave military men and women who risk their lives for us, Tim did the same, to enlighten us. He deserves more than an Oscar nomination; he deserves a medal.

I am deeply saddened for you.

I feel so bad for these killed journalists and their families, I know I could never go to a country where there is war. No matter how long any journalist is in a country at war, they are all heroes to me.

My two cents worth on how we can achieve the objective in Libya with a minimum of deaths at www.gurukalehuru.com
