Jan Brewer: Birther Issue Leading Country 'Down A Path Of Destruction'

PHOENIX (AP) -- Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer says the so-called "birther" issue is a potentially destructive issue for the country.

Brewer was interviewed on CNN on Monday about her decision a week ago to veto an Arizona bill that would have required President Barack Obama and other presidential candidates to prove their natural-born citizenship.

Brewer reiterated her veto explanation that the bill was poorly drafted. She also said she believes there's no question that it was directed at Obama though it's clear he was born in Hawaii.

She told CNN interviewer John King that the birther issue is leading the nation "down a path of destruction."

Brewer spokesman Matt Benson did not immediate respond to requests by The Associated Press for elaboration on that remark.

The repub side of the political fence is indeed incompetent, they are the ones who are trying to return the nation to Olde Feudal England's policy of oligarchy, fattening themselves on the bones of the working classes who gave so much to bring the nation to what it used to be, fifty years ago.

The repubs are also the low-lifes who have fed the furor of the President's place of birth, religion, and what he chooses for salad greens.

The repubs are ALSO the ones screaming about "THE DEFICIT!, THE DEFICIT!, while THEY are adding BILLIONS to that deficit by wanting their rich donors to have ever greater tax breaks!

This was the path many in the GOP took and continue to follow. You reap what you sow. And the seeds of destruction have already been planted. With the "brither" movement, there's the so called "lame-stream" media which includes the GAO, and any other non-partisan government agency that produces a report the GOP disagrees with. Then there's the liberals are not "real Americans" nonsense. Or that liberals are commie pinko socialist, marxists...etc. etc.

You cannot take these things back, GOP. You've sown the seeds and the weeds continue to grow. There is nothing that can do - you've promoted that government cannot be trusted to do the right thing. And, of course, now that the right wing activist SCOTUS has opened the spigot on adding yet more money to our politics, liberals have to agree.

I fear we are, indeed, on a path to destruction, Ms. Brewer and, sadly, I believe is nothing you or your party can do now after having sown and cultivated these seeds.

Especially since, there appear to be few grown ups in the GOP who are willing to step up and take their party back from the fringe groups who are now controlling it.

What? No reaction? He gets a copy of his "long form" released from the Governor of Hawaii and no screams from the birthers that it is not legitimate. "The Donald" claims victory in forcing the President to prove this issue.

So, what now? Oh yeah, I forgot, the birthers (and "the Donald") would like to exhume the body of his mother and have DNA testing to prove that he is Barack Obama - and not some identity thief.

And the stupidity goes on and on and on

Regardless of her political motivation--and there always IS one--this Governor
at least is savy enough to tell the truth.....for once.
