Rosie Huntington-Whiteley In 'Transformers: Dark Side Of The Moon' (PHOTO)

A star model is nearly ready for her biggest closeup yet.

Rosie Huntington-Whiteley, the woman chosen to replace Megan Fox in the "Transformers" series, is the subject of the film's newest official still photo. We can't see much, and don't know what's going on, though from her bruised and dirtied face and look of concern, there may or may not be a robot on the horizon, destroying Chicago.

"We made some mistakes," Bay told Empire Magazine. "The real fault with ["Transformers 2"] is that it ran into a mystical world. When I look back at it, that was crap. The writers' strike was coming hard and fast. It was just terrible to do a movie where you've got to have a story in three weeks."

I suppose it needs to be repeated:

The dark side of the moon is just like the dark side of the earth: wherever it happens to be night at the time. A solar "day" on the moon lasts a month instead of 24h, but it's the same idea.

By contrast, there is a permanent *far* side of the moon. The moon is in tidal lock, so that it revolves around the earth in the same length of time as it takes to rotate on its axis. The nearest part is moving too slowly to offset earth's gravity, and would fall to a smaller orbit if not for the rest of the moon; the farthest part is moving too fast to stay in its orbit, and would fly off into a larger one. The difference can be represented as a tidal force, stretching the moon out slightly so that it's longer in the direction toward earth than its overall diameter, and stretched a little narrower in the perpendicular directions. Given that slight distortion, the tidal force would amount to a torque if the moon rotated out of synch with its revolution.

So it stays with the same face toward the earth, and the "man in the moon" looks the same over the course of the month, just with different parts of it successively shining in the sunlight and hidden in darkness.

I'm sorry, but she is one of the least attractive women I have ever seen in my entire life. Her eyes are on the side of her head and her nostrils are as wide as her mouth. NOT attractive at all. Unless you like the 'repeatedly smashed in the face with a shovel' look...
